I just can't take it anymore. This SRT-4 Neon is uncalled for. 0-60 in 5.9 sec and high 13's in 1/4mile (So says the newest issue of SCC). The day a factory neon takes me is the day I go to my grave. WTF is up, where is our SR20's, 4G63's and H22A's? Come on, the K20A, QR25 and 6G72? Japan, king of the performance import is being side swiped by the likes of none other than a freakin MOPAR. I would rather be discraced by a focus or a sunfire or something. Anyway, before the punches start being thrown I love both imports and domestics minus dodge (just something about em' that makes me frown), I even owned a ford as my second car. My point is we drive imports and as much as I like the Spec-V, 3rd Gen Eclipse, and RSX they just don't seem to live up to the original SE-Rs, 4G63 powered DSMs and Integra Type R's. Hey, I don't know, mabey i'm just getting old (26 now) and don't like change like my parents that freak out when I mention internet, HDTV and Tivo. Or mabey our precious Nissans, Mitsus, and H's are just gonna stand by and allow the Dodges, Fords, and GM's take the crown? Can't wait for income tax return time, I'm am buying my SR20DET directly to defend our title as Sport Compact Kings because i'll be damned if some ____ year old (fill in the space with whatever age you like) punk that dose'nt know crap about crap pulls up next to me in a factory non-tuned neon and takes my Nissan.


(Please also keep in mind when i compare the imports of old to the imports of new i am not saying that the old models are better than the new ones, in a overall standpoint i think that most of the new models are superior. What i am saying that is in comparison to the domestic competition the imports no longer completely dominate since the arrival of the focus svt, neon str4, and i hate to say it but the cav/sunfire w/ supercharger package. My neighbor has the sunfire w/ superchager and it is very quick, i would say faster than the spec-v and celica gts i test drove)

YOU right i going to boost to (spun a bearing) good luck trying to find a motor since the pacific trade aggrement its going to take 4 weeks to get a motor. i will not pay no more than 1600 for a bb motor. i notice that some dealers that sell motors has hike there prices. but you have to boost now imagine these cars with work done to them.

Wondering if they'll put out the power they are supposed to? SCC had one that put out more to the wheels then it was rated at. I really don't like the new neon anyway, the earlier neons are better looking. IMO

Even still, if it takes juice to beat a stock car, that is pretty lame. That sucks that the spec V has such a shitty motor, nissan made the sentra better than the old one, but not by much, all the other manufacturer's cars are getting better by leaps and bounds.

I know somebody that works for nissan head office in canada. I was sayingthat they should have put a VE in the new spec V. He proceeded to tell my why the QR25 is better, and maybe that's the problem. Instead of listening to customers, nossan is telling them what they want. I sure as hell dont want a 6200 RPM redline and a rear beam suspension

I am pretty sure that the VE isnt here because of emissions, not because they think the 2.5 is better. Plus, you would be surprised how many people like the new se-r. I hope you have a big ass tax return to go turbo. Don't fret about the new neon, it isn't definite yet on the numbers because that was a prototype with no mufflers and no lsd. Plus it still looks pathetic.

I'm willing to bet that a non LS1 (94-97) Z28 automatic stock, could take my se-r without juice or boost. Theres nothing lame about that.

That just goes to show you that Dodge is listening to what the public is saying and they realize that imports are dominating and they want import owners to wake up. If Nissan would offer the DET in a Sentra or otherwise Nissan could sit up top. But now that Renault has pretty much taken over Nissan you can bet that the French aren't going to comply with anything that the public says. It makes me sick to think that Nissan now is owned by the french........They couldn't give a rats ass about import tuning.....

How much horsepower does that neon have? around 200-220? I doubt its gonna hit 13's. As for the Spec v and the newest Eclipse, those are definately disapointments! The rs-x, thats definately a great car, in fact a stock one smoked my friends friend with a civic and GSR motor.

Nissan wanted to creat a good "all around" motor, but why couldnt they modify it a llittle for the Spec v. That 6200 redline is ridiculous! And the cause is the valve springs to save on the gas milage. I would think that spec v owners would care less about that penny savings on gas per tank and would rather have a higher redline.

Oh and by the way the new SRT-4 is supposed to rival the WRX....yeah right!!! I would take a WRX over a dodge anytime. I'm giving it some thought on selling my classic and buying a WRX, not sure if i want to get rid of my classic ***, very tough to decide...ggrrrrrrrr

Just remember MOPAR is smart, not only did they make this thing a beast, but they are also going to have upgrade kits available. The car has no muffler just 2 resonators and a cat. I am sorry guys, but Chrysler was paying attetion. It is going to suck when I pull up against one of those things. The worst thing is so many people are going to be posers. Buying the body parts just like those who claim they own a Civic type R.

Bang for the buck will take on a whole new name. NOTHING WILL TOUCH THAT RIDE IN THE PRICE RANGE, NOTHING.

Kudos for Chrysler for not only coming into the Sport Compact world, but building a ride that is going to smoke the compition, even including stock LS1, 350Z, WRX, and cars priced 3x as much as the neon.

You guys need to realize that the spec v will be here in 6-10 years, that neon will be broke, just like everything else dodge makes. THere is more to life then beating someone with your POS turbo NEON. But I am talking to a bunch of car nutz. I like my car but man, you guys must realize there is always going to be something faster. For 4 grand I can create a 89 CRX with a engine swap beat the hell out of our se-rs with bolt ons.
