ok my engine wouldnt start one day and my boy looked at it and said its my distributor. i already changed the cap and rotor so looks like it was the unit itself that was gone. ok. found one for $75 not bad.
now i want to know.....how hard is it to replace the distributor on an NX 2000? let me know cause i really dont wanna goto a mechanic.

Its simple. Just unbolt the stock one and then bolt up the new one. you just have to line it up.

I just replaced mine. Basically unbolt the old one and put the new one in. Line it up best you can then, set the timing. It easy.

Are you sure the problem isn't the power transistor?

ok if u let me know what the hell that is then i can tell u if i think its that. a friend / former mechanic gave it a quick look and he said its the distributor. but let me know what u think
Don't worry about the power transistor is you have a distributor. This is simply an electronic distributor fitted to the CA18 as standard or the turbo SR20's & other 90's nissan engines.

Try the distributor first. Don't worry about all the rest of that. Mechanical parts (i.e. moving parts) will tend to break before electrical parts (non-moving). If the distributor is broken, it center shaft is probably cracked. Take off the cap and spin the rotor. It the gear mechanism in the back won't spin with it, you've found your problem.
Be sure to set the timing properly, though, once you put the new distributor in. I think you'll find that info by searching this site.
