Today I plan on cleaning up my engine bay, and was curious if engine degreaser would mess up a polished vc or not.

Not yhat I know of. I know it dosen't hurt my powder coated one at all.

as long as the engine is not hot i dont think i see any harm as long as you also dry it off

Chances are it will discolor it in spots, and you have to do some touch up polishing. I use Blue Magic metal polish to touch up. I've done mine hot and cold, I always get some discoloration.

I bought some aluminum wheel polish to touch it up, but I just want to clean it first.

I have always coated my VC with wax, but never wipe it off before I use degreaser. Like mentioned already you WILL HAVE TO TOUCH IT UP!

Serban I wouldn't mess with that, I bet it will dim the finish at the least.
