: Direct Port.....???
WhiteSE 11-03-2002, 08:18 PM Ok I have a direct port N.O.S. kit, when I got it and had it installed it was jetted for 75 hp only the clutch wouldnt hold it and it was running a lil lean--base timing was at like 12*
So, I got a new clutch and jetted it down to like what I believe is 30-40 hp and i would like to go back to 75 but have been advised against it on the stock pump.....I have heard it is safe and that it isnt, can someone confirm one way or the other :sonfused: .....I mean I ran it on 75hp jets at least 4 or 5 times....and had no problems.
enjoyDride 11-04-2002, 12:17 AM Go for it man..I ran a 75sht with no problems for over a year on the stock pump..anything over a 75 is not recommended:(
NiceGuy 11-04-2002, 01:06 AM 75 shot is fine on stock fuel pump.
But once you get a Walbro 255, you can go to a 110 shot, like me.
I've got the same setup as you, except with a Walbro 255 fuel pump, and 110 shot jets.
WhiteSE 11-04-2002, 06:50 AM Thanx a lot guys, I am so happy to hear that. I will be changing the jets tonight. Also did you guys have your timing at 14? just curious I wouldnt imagine it would need to be any lower.....

jon3k 11-04-2002, 09:46 AM the rule of thumb is 1 degree of retard for every 50 horsepower you add. (eg - 100shot you would retard 2 degrees).
are you using colder plugs?
enjoyDride 11-04-2002, 11:36 AM Never touched my timming, ran nice and hard on 10:1 comp..try looking into a retard switch if you go big shot..

WhiteSE 11-04-2002, 07:20 PM Thanx again guys, yeah my timing is at 14* and I have one step colder, copper plugs in....anyone been brave enough to go against all the warnings and actually use platinum plugs with nitrous? I hate the coppers for daily driving and dont have time to change them, gas mileage dropped with them too.....

TREYDEE 11-04-2002, 10:08 PM After what happen to my car without nitrous,Heck Noo
I would never use those things again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NiceGuy 11-05-2002, 01:39 AM What happened?
I know with my copper plugs, the car runs like shit until it gets warmed up. It hesitates and bucks at low RPM. Then, after about 5 minutes of running, it's fine.

yep mines the same way man.....
jon3k 11-05-2002, 10:07 AM i've never had the problems you guys are describing with copper plugs. i'd look for a problem elsewhere.
and at less than $2 a plug, i can change them out every time i do an oil change.
platinum plugs lead to pre-detonation. not to mention that nitrous will slowly eat the platinum off if they last long enough. every nitrous kit manufacturer specifically says not to use platinum plugs.
NiceGuy 11-05-2002, 10:22 AM Well Jon, if I take my 2 range colder plugs (gapped at .030) out, and replace them with the stockers, it runs a lot better.
The close gap in the colder plugs makes the car hesitate until cylinder temps get up to par.
Jon, what heat range plugs are you running?
jon3k 11-05-2002, 11:46 AM 1 range colder. they have to warm up because of their heat range, not because they are copper. i never have problems like you described.
NiceGuy 11-05-2002, 12:27 PM Like I said, they have to warm up b/c of my 2 heat ranges colder, and also because I closed the gap on them. =)
AztekSE-R 11-05-2002, 12:31 PM check the coil wire (plug wire(s))

I say my plugs are one heat range colder but it could be two lol and i know they are gapped closer.....either way does it really matter? We just have to warm our cars up....its no big deal....
NiceGuy you are using NGK's arent you?
AztekSE-R 11-05-2002, 09:58 PM hey i have a 91 classic bone stock and she is bucking since i installed new plugs and wires (BKR6e's coppers) and advanced auto Exact plug wires now she feels like she looses power around 2800-4000 rpm's but comes back after 4000
Should i get plats instead?
And whats a good wire to get besides stock and those shitty wires?
NiceGuy 11-06-2002, 12:02 AM Yes, I'm running NGK stock Nissan plugs.
BKR7E-11, 2 ranges colder than stock closed to .030
JCGator42 11-06-2002, 12:21 AM just to drop my comments on this. From experience I found out to NOT use platinum on nitrous, spent like $60 on 2 sets of PFR6G-11. Now I run BKR6E-11 on Magnecor wires, the car still runs great, it does idle kinda crappy sometimes, but still great, I think my timing might be off anywho. no loss of power or anything, although I have them gapped at .035. For heavy nitrous use I will just swap in some BKR7E-11 at .025 gap(85 shot), and .020 gap for 110shot. The platinums are a waste of money, it was for me at least. The coppers cost me like $6 for the set,

nos91 11-06-2002, 03:34 AM I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I'm planning to run 80-shots direct port and was wondering what would be the size of the jets for fuel and NOS?
