: NA torque vs. turbo torque????
SR20RACER 11-12-2002, 08:35 PM I was thinking...........(scary) Does a 200 WHP turbo car feels as torquey? (sp) as a 150 WHP NA car? I used to love revving high on the freeway in 3rd gear when my car was NA and was just hoping I would feel that same rush if not more from a turbo. This is my first turbo and want that torque feel still. (200 WHP is the DE w/ a T25,370's,fmic,pulleys and S3's)
97SE-R C2 11-12-2002, 09:16 PM You will make as much more tq as you will hp by turboing your car. It will be a huge rush compared to NA.
ITR_KILLR 11-12-2002, 09:24 PM and with a small turbo, i.e. T25, T28, you will feel it (torque) a lot sooner!!
SR20RACER 11-12-2002, 09:43 PM Cool, I was still hoping that I would still get the "put you in the back of your seat" feel from a turbo!!!! probably a stupid question because I would assume that torque is torque but it seems like a know alot less the more and more I research. I can't even remember when my car was NA when my torque was high. I think around 4000rpm. So you are saying that I will feel that much torque @3000 rpm?
charlie2020 11-12-2002, 09:51 PM You don't know "put you in the back of your seat" until you go turbo.:)
Sirnixalot 11-12-2002, 10:42 PM my car would want to put me in the trunk when ever i gunned it.....ahhh AWD aint it lovely:D
ITR_KILLR 11-12-2002, 11:04 PM w/ a T25 you should feel that feeling @3K, I promise it'll be much more dramatic than N/A. think about it, your getting N/A torque, plus the turbo's torque, how could it be less??
ITR_KILLR 11-12-2002, 11:05 PM not exactly the correct way to word it, but it gives you the idea
97SE-R C2 11-12-2002, 11:09 PM Torque is Torque and turbos on Sr20's make a good amount of it :) You'll be very happy. The best feeling I've ever had was driving a Miata with a T-3 at 12psi. That really put you in your seat :D
ITR_KILLR 11-12-2002, 11:19 PM GTBB37+C1 cams+20psi=ass firmly planted:D
Loe Lyf 11-12-2002, 11:20 PM On my NX, at stock boost, all hell brakes loose at 3-3.5K RPM in 1st and 2nd (lots of torque steer and squealing tires):D
Look at my sig to see my power numbers with a stock exhaust and TMIC.
SR20RACER 11-12-2002, 11:33 PM You guys are getting me all EXCITED to drive mine. Hopefully this Sat with the help of two of my friends I will be able to feel the power you speak of!!!:D
Jackson Diamond 11-12-2002, 11:51 PM I dont get pushed back into my seat until 4500 but after that, goodbye!!!!!!!!!! Head back or your going to get whiplash:D
Jackson Diamond 11-12-2002, 11:51 PM ^^^^^^^^
thats when i get traction:rolleyes: not often
ITR_KILLR 11-13-2002, 12:10 AM do you have the stage 5, w/ .82 A/R?
Rockwood 11-13-2002, 06:45 PM turbo tq feels way smoother and much more effortless. none of the harsh, shaky feel that NA gives you, just a (relatively) quiet rush of power.
muleman 11-13-2002, 07:04 PM stock de torque is 130-133lb
stock bb det is 200lb at 6-7psi
there is your answer
SR20RACER 11-13-2002, 07:13 PM I know a turbo has more torque but I was thinking that the motor might rev so fast that you don't get to feel it as well as NA. Thas is me being a stupid turbo newbie, I am hoping the FMIC and cams also add to the power. 225WHP is my goal. (for now)
SE-Rious B14 11-13-2002, 07:29 PM I lose to stock SE-R's with their timing advanced to 17 degrees all the time due to the massive amount of torque they have over me :p
bigtom 11-14-2002, 01:03 AM if you keep the exhaust at least 2.5" mandrel all the way it will feel fine.
