Im thinking of starting to build a turbo kit for my car. Im gonna use the factory turbo manifold and I want to use the I think it is a factory 300tt intercooler that will fit in my wheel well. My question is what is the biggest turbo that will fit on the manifold that I could maybe get from a salvage yard or what is the best turbo for the stock manifold? Im not trying to spend a ton of money trying to put this turbo kit together and I want it to work well with a small intercooler. What is everyones suggestion and what kinda cars should I be looking to get a turbo off of in the junkyard?TIA

if I was you, I would buy a used gtir manifold-t28 setup...... but you can't just get a manifold from a salvage yard, piece your turbo setup from people on this forum!!

I know that I cant just buy a manifold. I just want to know what is the best or biggest turbo that will fit the gti-r manifold? There has to be something that will fit the factory manifold that is bigger than a t28 isnt there?

yeah bro you need to elaborate a little more, if you want to buy a gtir mani you could have the flange modified to accept a t304 or somehting but its not just a bolt on things if thats what your thinking....

GTi-R manifold? Biggest, best? The answer is HKS GT3037. requires only grinding a small spot on the block (non critical) to fit. Will support over 400 hp.

? don't bother. Good luck finding anything non-DET that will fit (wastegate actuator, etc.) plus you'll never find any sort of good turbocharger in a junkyard. If you are looking for cheap (obviously) you'll be best off just buying a used GTi-R setup from someone on here with a T28. It's a pretty good turbo. You are quite mistaken if you think you will be able to assemble a good setup from junkyard parts. Even a stock BB t25 will be better.

So the best way to go is to just buy the stock turbo kit.
