I just bought a 95 200sx tranny with about 62000 miles on it. After I replace my fifth-gear-deficient tranny out of my 91 will I need a break in period for the 95? I know I know it already has 62000 miles on it, but I was just wondering if it needs to get used to my car. Flame me if you like. Thanks

Derek

No, the tranny shouldn't, but the new clutch you will be putting in there when you have the tranny off will! :)

I just did a tranny swap. I installed a new PP and Clutch and I resurfaced the flywheel. Give the new set-up about 500 miles. After that it should be fine.:D

Luckily (or is it unluckily?) I have already replaced the PP and clutch disc about 3,000 miles ago with a JWT PP and 2k disc, so this job will just be a straight tranny swap. I'm just a little worried about swapping out the speedo sensors. Is it really just as simple as unscrewing the one that is on the 95 tranny and putting in my old on in place of it? If its that easy this job will be no problem (knock on wood). Thanks guys. As much as I love the sound of the sr20 at a constant 4500 rpm on a road trip, I think my hearing is going, so this swap will be much welcomed :)

Yeah i know what u mean try going down the freeway with a tach and safc lighting up the night strapped onto your seat with a harness on and having old ladies pass you up cause your doing 4000rpm at 55mph cause of a 5th gear popout oh well ill fix it one day!

the sensor swap is straightforward. Undo the one bolt, and yank it out. That's it.

Sounds simple enough. I will be tackling the job this weekend. I can't wait to have fifth gear again!:D
