we are about to take an engine out of a G20 and put in my nx2000. we have to pull my engine out first and was wondering what the best procedure was for pulling it out. (seems like it should actually drop out easier)

thanks for any tips

Heres how I did it....*** I don't exactly suggest it as a "professional" method..

I've always taken them out the bottom. Never tried to come out the top with one. The FSM says out the bottom.

i jsut took the motor out of my parts car this weekend. It was so easy, but i had a lift to work on. Unplug all the harnesses, 4 coolant lines i think, powersteering, intake, header, axles and motor mounts. I put some 4"x4" blocks under strong points on the motor/tranny, lowered the car till the motor was on the blocks, then pulled the final 2 motor mounts and lifted the car up. By myself, it took about 4 hours.

I'd make sure to switch out the temp sensors between the two motors, since you are using the nx2000 ecu. If you are using the g20 ecu then don't do anything. I don't think there is a diffence between the ecus but mixing temp sensors has always been a pain in the ass in my case. So just use the correct ecu with the correct temp sensors from each motor. And if you not using the G20 ECU and you want to sell it, PM me.

When I swapped engines I took the old one out through the top.
Installed the new one from the bottom. I believe going out the bottom is the better route, more room.

I pulled mine out the top with very little headach. I don't think i could move an engine easy if i were to put it in through the bottom. I heard thats not hard either.

I don't know about you all but when I pulled out and engine off of a 94 infinity g20 and put it in my 93 xe everything was fine except for the ecu. I don't know about NX's but for a sentra you can't use your stock ecu cause the g20 harness is thicker than the sentra. I had everything installed in my car in a day when I figured this out along with g20 transmission won't fit on a sentra and axles are too long.

I've taken-out and put-in both ways top and bottom and I would have to say dropping the engine from the bottom is a little easier and putting it back in from the bottom is easier to.

I've done it this way to, but I have to agree with Its311Pete.
