Well I just had my clutch arm welded and thought I'd share some photos of the work. I also had it powdercoated after. As you can see I decided to have it welded underneath. Seemed like a stronger way to do it.
Also, I would also like to add that even though I never had clutch grit I have taken extra steps to ensure I wouldn't have it. I bought polishing compound, buffing wheels for the dremel, and buffed the clutch arm where it goes:
1. Into the top of the tranny
2. Into bottom holder hole inside
3. The two 'fingers' on that push the bearing
to the point of a 'mirror' finish. :)
I also replaced the bushing and seal at the top of the tranny and installed a new clutch cable, regreasing as much as I could pull out. (THE PICTURES DO NOT SHOW THE POLISHING AS I DID THAT AFTER I TOOK THEM)
The result? The clutch pedal is smooth as silk. I would say not only does it feel better than stock to me (I have ACT HD PP) but one would think its a hydraulic clutch if you didn't know better. I was not expecting that but I can sure say it was a welcome surprise. :D
