my brother just bought my christmas present, 4 qts or redline oil...... "red-57904 75W90 gear oil for limited slips, manual transaxles... $7.95 per qt" thats what is says in the summit magazine, is that right?? the reason im asking is because it says on the bottle that its not recommended for regular use because of gear clash or something of that nature??

If it didn't say MTL or MT-90 on the bottle, I don't believe that you should be using that stuff in your transmission. Redline 75W-90 gear oil is meant to be used in differentials, not transmissions. Most FWD and Mid-engine, rear-drive vehicles have the differential inside the transmission, so that would do you no good. It's the same stuff I use in my Miata's differential.

So you're saying I shouldn't be using the Redline Lightweight shockproof in my tranny then?

I used both Redline 75W-90 and MT90. I think tranny with MT90 feel much better. With regular 75W-90, I used to gring gear all the time, but it doesn't do it with MT90.

Not at all. Shockproof is fine for our transmissions. There's a certain line of fluids that Redline produces that are meant for differentials only. I believe that is what the person who started this thread got.
