I am a bit disappointed with the fit of the place racing intake (newest model as far as I know). Here is just a quick list of rants!
my car is a 95 200sx se-r
1. the 3h AMB sensor holes weren't drilled right. They LOOKED ok, until I put the RTV laden threaded plate inside the tube, and tryed to insert the screws. Only one fit. Not too big of a deal, pulled it out, drilled a larger hole into one of the holes and it fixed it. Still, how hard is it to get the holes right?? I am sure this 3H AMB was produced similar enough that they could get that right.
2. no K-N air filter. But i looked up the monster filter and it costs 69 so I guess a chunk of my 200 went towards that. and maybe its a good filter. doesn't matter much it doesn't fit anyway with the CAI.
3. CAI doesn't fit. This was my biggest gripe, and it fits in with number 2. There is no way I can get the cold air extension to work with the MONSTER flow filter they sent. It fits, but there is no way in hell the splash guard even comes close to being able to close. I thought about hacking 2-3 inches off the cold air tube, and hoping that the angle of the tube at the end was compatible with the filter placement, but I figured shit I'd go with the hot air setup for now.
Not sure what I have to do to get the CA setup to work, I am hoping I can find a smaller KN filter?? Or maybe I'll end up hacking a few inches from the cold air tube. That, and a smaller filter, MIGHT work.
Anyone got any tips on this???
I have looked at the amounts that I can push the tubes into the rubber sleeves, and I dont even think maxing that more than it is will help it.. anyone??
