my car has AIV now, but theres no fitting for it on the new hotshot header, so........ what to do? just remove all of the aiv stuff and plug the whole on the air filter box?

MY HS header had the hole for the AIV. Did you tell them what year your car was?

Kiko,

Just be very carefull of the manifold bolts. It is easy to snap off either the far right one (more common) or the far left one. It should take some (a lot) of elbow grease to free them up.

Just torque them down again well and go back and check them the next day after its first ride.

If they are still using the same bolts as came with my gen4 for connnecting the primary and secondary, throw them away. (this is a hint to throw them away and get some good stainless cut bolts that can take the beating.) The ones I got strip right through and you get a nice LOUD leak right there.

And use good copper gasket maker.

And use a jack to hold up the secondary by the flexpipe as you line it up to the primary.

and... well I guess I'll stop now. Wish you luck!

Disconnect the battery too as you don't want to accidentally fry the altenator. PB Blaster is the best thing to put on the manifold nuts too.

Yo Kikosanchez!

Yes yes, be careful with those head studs! I broke the far right one. (driver's side) when I installed my HS header. Oh and be sure to take lots of pictures when you get it all installed. Like that finish on it? Good, enjoy it becuase in approx. 6 months kiss it bye bye. Well in my case anyway, it started looking rough and now I have very small...what looks like rust spots, on it here are there. Thats why HS don't warranty the finish by the way. They know it won't last.

Also be sure to wipe off any grease or dirt off the header BEFORE you crank up your car. Reason being, if you have grease on the header, when it heats up it could stain it.

Lastly, your metal A.I.V. tube. You know the part that connects to your exhaust manifold that you are going to remove. Do you want it anymore? My header has the port for it but I could not break loose my aiv tube from my stock manifold. Damn thing was rusted and heat welded together.:( If you don't want it or need it I'd like to have it. If you don't want to give it to me what would you take for it?

Thanks and happy modding!

Dare I ask how you removed the broken stud in the head? Are the studs basically just a long threaded bolt? You know, one side threads into the head and the other sticks out of the head for the header to slip over and allow a bolt to be threaded on in order to tighten the header to the head? Anyone have a part number for these? Price?

Back to my original questions:D How do you get the broken stucd out? Electric drill, extractor and removal of the radiator?

YUK!

Yes that is broken off below flush.

Yes you need to get an extractor and be VERY careful when doing it. There is a coolant line in the block right behind that stud so it is thin behind there.

Better yet just bring it to the professionals or you can always double up on the copper gasket sealer maker.

Just do a search for the #s here. someone posted them a while back. (A few times I think)
