Hey whats up guys,

Well i think i will be on this forum from now on so..... here goes a few questions. Well i want to start the new year off fresh so i have decided to buy a SR20DET and throw it into my b-14 Se-R and my first question is, would it work if i bought a full set up BB or Avenir and took the tranny off or (if its already off) and install a new disc maybe from like ACT or something and a Nissan throw out bearing and hope that the stock det PP holds up for a little while maybe a couple of months till i can do a whole kit? One of my friends said it would work and its not a bad idea but wanted to see what all you "turbo monkeys":D think. ok my next question is what is this i hear about trimming your block to swap these motors, i have herd you dont need to do that and i have also herd that you need to, if anyone can clarify that i would be appreciative.any other information or advice you would like to give me will be appreicated.

thanks alot guys

No trimming is required at all. As for the tranny, don't get it because you don't need it. An aggressive clutch disc with a stock pressure plate is stong enough for a turbo application. If you don't mind a little rough engagement until you get used to it, get an ACT 6Puck disc. It works very well.

It doesn't come FWD, only AWD. Vendors always say it's FWD because it's for FWD cars, but the tranny is AWD. Your existing tranny bolts up the BB DET.

So there's no trimming needed to fit the motor in? Why is it every B14 I have seen has it trimmed to clear the crossmember?

matt you are definately right on taht...it DOES need trimmming but it is minimal and doesnt matter structurally. I would NOT go with a 6 puck just because of the harshness it puts on your transmission. im not a fan of fixing broken parts so i would go with a ACT like you said. or maybe even a clutchnet.

good luck with it all too btw :)

B14's I am not sure on, but I didn't touch anything on my NX.

I'm no guru...but I believe a ACT Street/strip disc with a HD or XP would work fine for a stock/light DET don't you agree????

Your USDM FWD Tranny will bolt right up to the DET motor. I have a 96' 200sx with the swap and used the ACT solid 6-puck/stock PP combo for months. Held up like a champ, never slipped, but about 2-3 months ago the tranny imploded. Needless to say I am using a factory clutch setup and it holds just fine...most importantly no crazy ass harsh engagement! Peace.

I had to trim the upper oil pan to drop mine into my G20. Like said its very minor. Also i am using a ACT Stock disc with HD pressure plate and so far, three days lol, it holding fine.

okay so just buy the bluebird and take off the PP and buy like an act modified STREET disc and put that in and it should be cool? what about a pulsar GTI-R? what needs to be done for this to work?

Thanks guys

What about the JWT clutch? I heard their older style had a vauge clutch feel, but I wasn't sure about the new ones.

I'm surprised no one has said anything...but isnt a BB flywheel diffrent than a USDM SR20 flywheel that you need to use for the USDM FWD tranny??

I would get a http://www.clutchnet.com disk and a stock pp or a clutchnet pp, they dont list a pp on their web-site but they have a 50% over stock and a 100% over stock pp.

do it once, and do it right. if you dont have a proper clutch to drop in there, wait until you get it, then do your swap. a tranny swap is more than half the work of pulling the engine, so save yourself the anguish of doing something over again, and do it right. dont use the stock PP, it will die of fatique, or fall apart, especially one of questionable origin.

if you want good holding, and arent too abusive on clutches, i would get the ACT HD00 kit. i run the JWT dual fritcion disc (half ceramic, half organic kevlar crap, i AM abusive, 6000 rpm clutch drops on slicks will do that) which holds good, doesnt eat your flywheel, and doesnt chatter.
