I have a T28setup.. In my 97 SE-R.. Heres a list of my setup..
1.SR20DE Original with 32154miles
2.S3 cams
3.370cc injectors
4.GTI-R manifold w/T28
5.2.5 Exhaust W/2.5 Downpipe.
6.Stock Maf
7.JWT w/3bar program, S3 cam program, 370cc injector program..
8.Walbro fuel pump (not installed)
9.Fmic w/2.5 intercooler piping....
I think thats of it..May of forgot something..
Well my question is after the install I had an AFC in the car and it ran really rich and had some boost lag and then fourth gear seemed to die out.. I spun a bearing in the car and had it fixed..I decided to take the AFC out and the car seemed to not be running AS rich.. The car has been sitting for a few weeks for the winter I decided to take it out the other day and I noticed a few things on it.. Somewhere on the intake manifold there is a leak somewhere we sprayed brake cleaner around the injector area and the idle went way up then dropped back down.. Then I took an air hose to it and the car stalled out. So I am wondering if there is any suggestions with that... Next the car is still running rich but not as bad as when I had the AFC in... IT seems to be going through more oil then it should and the oil is black????? Also the car has some boost lag still, I havent had it tuned yet and I dont know where the TPS is set at and timing...
Sorry this is long I just had some questions on this stuff I would like to fix everything over the winter.. All suggestions would be appericated... I know I will have more questions on this.. I dont want to blow up my motor.....:D

Well, for one, I'd say don't go over stock boost because you're at the limits of your fuel system. The oil is black because you're running rich and all of the soot is getting into the oil. That's all I can help you with though!

Yeah right now I am running 8psi... What are the recommendtions for doing the fuel system..

a walbro fuel pump.

Just hooking up the s-AFC shouldn't make it run rich, as all the settings are at zero. If you bought it second hand, you should use the intialize setting to clear everything out. Re-check your wiring and make sure it is correct. It really sounds like you already had a problem before the AFC. First off fix any air leaks you have, put one of those little straws on the end of the brake clean can and spray near each injector. You probably have one of those black injector seals leaking. Recheck ALL your intercooler piping. Also are you running the BOV open or recirculated? As for the 'running rich' is it black smoke all the time or just under boost.

Well to answer some questions. Joe doesnt have the AFC in the car anymore. He is running a JWT ECU. I dont think that is the problem at all. I think it is with what you have said skyliner, either the injectors seals are bad or there is some type of leak with the IC piping or the intake manifold. The intake manifold gasket may be bad, I am not sure. When he is at full throttle the car blows chunks of black smoke out. Not as bad as when he had the AFC in. I think that the air leak is causing his fuel problem. The car thinks it is getting more air than it actually is and therefore dumping more fuel than it actually needs. Winter projects are upon us!

Yeah, My BOV is recirculated... I dont have the afc anymore.. What about timing and the tps???

How long have you been driving the car like this for?
1st- get that walboro pump in there that could be your problem with the car falling on its face in 4th gear. If the car only falls on its face after winding out a few gears that could definately be the problem. I had that problem runing the stock pump and it burnt up my rings fast...smoke started to appear and the oil got black very fast. IF you havent been driving this car long probably shouldnt be a problem.
2nd- Does your car hold a good idle? Usualy when you have a vacum leak the idle will go nuts and the computer will go wacky to much fuel at times. JWT's tuning wont work right unless your car operates properly. find the leak- shoot for 17-20 at idle.
3rd-Double check the tps voltage, if you never messed with the sensor it should be fine but id doesnt hurt to check. As for the timing get the car to idle at the correct rpm and set the base timing to 15 degrees i believe with the jwt programing. double check that though.
As a safety measure smell your oil make sure it doesnt smell like gas from some getting by the rings if its runing that rich. Just make sure that wasnt the reason you spun the bearing. Better safe than sorry.

Then idle is touchy. Sometimes its stays at 1000 and after alittle bit of driving it goes from 900 to 1300??? But my boost gauge stays fine, its not all over the place... I have been driving the car for about 1700miles since I got it back from the spun bearing.. I spun the bearing cause I was running so rich that I burned up the oil... But since I got it back and took the afc out its okay.. Still blowing cow out the exhaust once I go into boost.. Also if I pin first gear and bang second the car has a like a hesitation then its goes again.. I dont drive the car everyday and for the most part it will sit for the winter.. But if I can bring it somewhere to get shit fixed it would be great.

Here's what i would do..start with removing the upper intake manifold and replacing the injector seals, then replace the upper intake manifold gasket and then if that doesnt fix it try checking the i/c piping for leaks(couplers and so on). Then when the idle and running rich is fixxed...through the walbro in!! If you need help let me know. The AFC had nothing to do with the way the car ran rich before....It sounds to me like an injector leak and if i were you i'd fix that before driving it anymore. That could cause severe problems!!

Have you disconnected the crankcase/valvecover lines to the intake and put breathers on? ... or alternatively fitted non-return valves into the breather lines? Maybe metered air is flowing into the crankcase/valvecover area from the intake when under boost.
