: My Window Stopped Working
I'm guessing that it's because the motor died. But it just quit working. Luckily it happened when the window was all the way up. I took the door panel off, and used a test light. Power is making it all the way to the motor, so that means the motor is shot correct? Where's the best place to get a window motor?

REDSENTRASE-L 12-22-2002, 09:26 PM i have the same problem in my se-l. just to be safe, i am gonna change the motor and switch. i suggest you just buy a switch first. there are a few people on this forum who had this problem. turned out that nissan doesn't make a good master window switch.
for parts....click here (www.car-parts.com)
Serban 12-22-2002, 09:40 PM Matt, get 2 long wires, and connect them to the motor, and connect them to the battery, if it doesnt work, then its the motor, if it does, its the switch.
It's a lot easier then that. I used my test light, and checked to make sure the switch was delivering power. And it is. So I figure I need a motor.
is it just me? or does nissan make the shittiest power window motors ever? In every nissan car i've owned to date, the power window motors have gone out.

I agree wholeheartedly. Our '97 Pathfinder's passenger-side window is starting to slow down. We'll replace the motor (or switch, whichever it turns out to be), but still: The car is all of 5 years old. :(
Nissan240SX 12-28-2002, 12:37 AM I agree on this one. My passenger window still goes up and down just fine. My drivers side window on the other hand doesn't move. I can put the window down on the passenger side from my drivers side panel, so I am not thinking its the panel. I also hear a click when I push the button to put the drivers side window down. Dunno, confusing yes.
it is 100% switch
but could be more
switch is easy solution you can test it out if you take door panel off
Nissan240SX 12-28-2002, 10:17 AM 38iP are you refering to me or the other guy?
TUNED200 12-28-2002, 11:10 AM my driver side switch doesnt like to work, i have to hit it a few times, and then it goes all of the way down. if its wet out, my window only rolls 1/4 of the way up, and then i have to help it. i need a new switch and motor. i have the motor, but not the switch. good luck matt

WickedSR20 12-28-2002, 09:43 PM Have never had a switch prob, but my wife had one with her Altima. Master window switch went bad. Although it is highly possible that it is the motor considering your diags you did so far. Catch someone parting out a 200 and try to get you a motor.
Ok, so I tested everything out. Well today I was on my way to go shopping and I was complaining about how nice of a day it was outside. Well I started cussing the window, and pushed down really hard on the switch. Then the damn window went down:confused: So I'm completely stumped. It works when it wants to. So as long as it keeps working I'll be happy.
hey id bet on corrosion on the contacts of the switch. you were getting enough voltage to light your test lamp, but not enough amperage to actually engage and power the window motor. just a thought.... good luck
oh yeah... next time your window stops working, take the switch out and clean the contacts with some tuner cleaner or brake cleaner
dougnosser 12-30-2002, 10:22 AM DAMN SWITCHES, my car and dannyse99's car master switches are shot.
I cleaned the contacts a couple weeks ago when I was at the nissan meet. It's probably a combination of the switch and the motor.
Infinity_turbo 01-04-2003, 07:19 PM I have an infiniti G20, I have had to replace all four window motors! The design of the motor is not very good at all. The problem is the carbon contacts break apart to easily, also of the motor is vented without any kind of filtering allowing dirt, dust, and moisture to get into the motor.
4 window motors already, getting ready for a 5th
