mathnx2k 12-22-2002, 07:34 PM So my 91 nx2k has developed a rattle in the driver's side door. If I press my elbow in the rear of the armrest, it stops. The door lock is also not working all the time. Is it hard to get in there and figure out what's rattling? Any guesses? Thanks Blake moto773 12-22-2002, 10:33 PM i have the same thing, at least i think, mine i think is because of the pads that hold the glass from shaking is worn out, so it rattles... (at least i think):D Crim 12-22-2002, 10:52 PM maybe the metal rod that connects your door locking switch handle thing came loose, they ussualy sit in these little plastic clips. If it comes out of these clips, it can both rattle and cause your door lock to not function properly. socalnx 12-23-2002, 08:15 PM I would go with Crim's thought and take the door panel off and look at the rods that connect the door handle to the lock/latch. The pads that hold the window near the top of the door are easily adjustable. When the panels off, check that out too ! I might do the same on some near weekend. My window is rattling when I drive down a bumpy road with the window partially open. cossieturbo 12-25-2002, 12:36 AM Ok, I agree that the lock rods is a great place to start and then on to all the other stuff listed, but here's my story. I had a bleedin rattle for a long time and I could not find it. :mad: One day, after fixing my door locking problem, I noticed a retaining bolt missing from the bottom of the front "window guide". Noooo, that can't be it! I put a new bolt on (liquid locktight also) and it's GONE!!! After years of getting pissed, I am finally free!!! :D NO MORE RATTLE!!! If your lucky, this fix will work. As for the door lock... if you remove the latch assembly, you may notice that the plastic cover plate has separated a bit. It can be hard to see which end has lifted. You may notice that one of the little white lever arms is no longer seated properly... If this is the case then E-mail me and I will remove mine and snap some pics plus give you a blow by blow on fixing it permanently. I have already done both doors. The other solution is to buy a new assembly........ NOTE: Correction on missing bolt. It was the rear window guide. celica_gt4@bellsouth.net Cossie | ||
