Got a great deal on a four-month-old HKS cat-back for my classic. Immediate impressions are that it's definitely quieter than my old setup; I'm looking forward to getting it on the highway to see how it is there. Very pleased with the look; almost stock-ish and not ricey at all IMHO. I might need to get a bigger tip just so people will know I'm serious :D

My old exhaust will be for sale, as soon as I can get pics hosted and figure out which for sale forum to stick it in.

BTW: please let me know if the pics don't show, I'm still in the learning stages with Imagestation.

As of this morning: definitely quieter on the highway, but once again my @#()%@#(%& exhaust rattles. I don't know WTF the problem is, and I'm pretty bummed since this was the "quality part" that was supposed to end these problems  It also doesn't fit exactly; the mid-pipe is actually rubbing the heat shields on one side. I think it may have been bent in shipping. I'm going out of town tomorrow and will screw with it when I get back.

Kent--

Looks goooood. Just ding/bend the heatshields underneath until there is no more rubbing/noise-making going on. One area to check out is the front crossmember.

Thanks for the prop, Greg; I'm really happy with the look and the tone - nice and deep, but quiet cruising.

I literally _just_ dealt with one of the problems - whether it left the factory this way, the previous owner did it, or UPS did it on its way to me, the B-pipe was bent! just enough that instead of running down the center of the tunnel it actually contacted one side. I took it off today and bent it to where it lines up almost perfectly. We'll see if this helps the rattle, but I don't have high hopes; the rattle has lived now through 3 or 4 different exhaust configurations. It only went away when I had the tailpipe on an almost rigid hanger for a while.

What might be a problem around the front crossmember?

The saga continues...

Went to wash the car and after re-aligning the midpipe the rattle is GONE! Merry Christmas to me! I've been dealing with that for too long...

I had the same one on my car and I loved it. No one even knew I had an exhaust and kept the cops from looking at my car for noises when cruising. Good buy and good luck with the rest of the car.
