They have a warranty and they'll stand behind their motors.

Sr20 has always had what I needed in stock. I even stop by the shop and work on my car from time to time. Chris is very personable (in person). He helped me to get my powersteering eliminator kit prototype put together for the sr20 AND for the GTIR.

If you do chose to buy a motor then just ask the right questions (Is it in stock right NOW or is is being picked up from someplace else?).
I see wrecked se-r's on ebay from time to time but they always seem to be back east maybe that would be an option for you?

As with any engine importer, check the engine out completely. Look for sludge under the VC, non-factory sealants around the oil pans and other signs of damage/tampering. Most importers and shops will replace a bad engine.

I have had good experiences with sr20dev. Some of what they may lack in timeliness is made up in quality. People's worst reported experiences with them seem to usually involve cutom fabrications that requires sr20dev to outsource some of the work.

If the engine is in stock, I don't think there is much for you to worry about.

ive heard both good and bad about the. from what i can see is if you are in the area of them...they really go out of their way. if you arent right there by them...ive heard people having problems. its all up to you. there are great places to get engines around ***. soko, or maybe even JGY.

Dude, SOKO is like 20min outside of Chicago...in Franklin Park. You could go there with a pick-up and just pick the one you want. They have like 35+SR20's there. I love going there and just looking at the stacks of motors.

K. Watanabe has probably the worst motors I've ever seen in my life.

He thinks that just because he heard they have $275 motors, even though he's never been there, he assumes they have great motors there. AND, he assumes that SR20Dev. gets their motors there. I hate this heresay and assuming stuff.

Hmmm, When I went by there last year they had 2 that looked beat to death, a few that looked useable, 2 that looked pretty clean under the VC (from what I could tell) and one that practically looked new (bought that one). I guess I wouldn't recommend them unless you can pick your engine, but they are definately worth looking at if on the west coast, especially for the price.
