: Check it out! $20 front spoiler
Its311Pete 12-28-2002, 02:31 AM Well me and Cantdoadonut got creative today and went to Lowes hardware to find materials to build a front spoiler. I have seen others made of landscaping edging but damn that just looks too ghetto. After doing some searching we found some plastic trim made to go around windows. It bends nicely and is fairly stiff.
We grabbed some pieces to make support brackets and went to a local fastner shop and bought some stainless steel allen head bolts and stainless washers.
Well heres what we came up with, and the best part is it only cost $20.
Let us know what you think!

Serban 12-28-2002, 02:36 AM Pretty cool, kinda looks like what Smoothdaddyfig did. But he cut the lower lip of a 94 bumper, and put it on a 91 bumper.
Its311Pete 12-28-2002, 02:40 AM Figgy you got a pic? Sounds like your idea would look nice.

I took that pic of his car last weeked at our Nissan meet, but he might have some better pics.
sleeping 91ser 12-28-2002, 02:49 AM I'm like half half, it looks ok, hard to decide if it would look better white though, but definately worth a shot.

Lowes also had the same trim in a off color white. You could always paint it. On my car it matches the black under the doors and quarters.

cantdoadonut 12-28-2002, 03:59 AM hehehe i see you posted the pic of my car that had the most dirt on it... this took about an hour to install and the hardest part is tightening all the bolts down, i think there were like 22 in all.
i went on a little test drive on the way home after putting it on, at 95 mph i can feel a difference, but there seems to be a downside too, i got some brake fade, i dont know if its not letting the airflow to the brakes right or not, but i might get some dryer hose and see if i can route more air to the wheel well. may help, maybe not, but who cares, its fun and imho it looks alot better , the black on the bottom of the car matches the black on the grille perfectly.
94sentraSER 12-28-2002, 04:39 AM Um brother man what exactly did you make??? looks stock ! Not sure what you made but um it looks like an OEM bumper.....
russel with the red B14 (the one with the 100shot of nos) did this... it lookes real good on his ride. and also on yours
LogicalRetard 12-28-2002, 10:50 AM That thing looks very nice....seriously. I've wanted to do that, but am contemplating a actual spoiler with some amount of degree to add downforce.
What's up with the Kosei's on one side and the "R" rims on the other?

If you want to buy one from me I'll sell you one. Or you can go to Lowes and buy all the stuff you need and do it yourself.
Parts list:
>Black trim- Can find at Lowes in the where they sale window screening .
>braces- I don't know the isle but there is several types of metal channel and straight metal pieces. you need to buy the shortest piece they got with holes in it.
>get some small allen head bolts(i'd go with stainless so it want rust) there is 26 holes in the trim piece. get the same # of small washers for the front and the same # larger washers for the rear.
use a drill and line up the center hole on the trim and drill a hole in you existing spoiler. (there is a line on the spoiler that we went buy) Basically you do this till you get it wraped all aroung the bumper and then take a hacksaw and trim off the extra on each end. There is 2 holes we used to mount the brackets on the bottom of the radiator support. they already have nuts welded in place so all you need is 2 10mm bolts. Cut the brackets to desired lenght and there is a small channel they will fit into nicely.
These arn't the best instructions but really it all is very simple and straght forward. We found that somehow things just started to come together and when we got through we were amazed at how nice it looked to be so simple.
If anyone wants to try and make one just let me or
Cantdoadonut know and we will be happy to help you.

I believe it is called window trim. It can be found in the same section of Lowes where they sale window beading and window screening.
