: My FMIC (pics)
Serban 12-28-2002, 09:12 PM Ok, I got tired of the interheater, I could actually feel the power loss once the engine got hot. Today I finally put the BB IC up front...only for a month or 2 till I get the other IC ;)
Here is a list of the parts I got.
5 - 2" 90 degree couplings
2 - 2" straight couplings
1 - 2" 30 degree (I'm guessing) pvc bend
1 - 7' fence post :D
Total cost = $53
ok ok, enough talk, lets get to the pics...

Getting started, you can see most of the supplies there.

I cut the stock U pipe from tb to IC, and turned it, and attached both pieces together.

Running the first pipe...woohoo

You can see the PVC bend coming into action. I got it to stay by using some epoxy on the pipes, it is on there REAL good.

Yay..most of it done.

Driver side bends.

Perfect fit. You can still see the zipties holding up the pipes though :D

And I still got the foglights to fit, AND work...I am *** man!!
It wasnt too bad of a job, took about 4 hours total, from taking off the bumper and headlights, cutting the piping and putting everything back together. I bumped the boost up to 8 psi now, and the car is running REAL good!!
Here are some more pics

That is all
SE-Rican 12-28-2002, 09:17 PM Not bad at all. It looks very good. Nice clean Job!! Now let me drive that BEAST!!!;)
nx2000racer 12-28-2002, 09:23 PM looks good man! time for a bigger IC :D
vladha 12-28-2002, 10:05 PM As always, ya done a good job Serban. You are a credit to diy'ers.
I gotta ask, though... what was the fence post for? And, is your Nismo radiator a double wall?
Later,
Mark
Serban 12-28-2002, 10:09 PM Mark, the fence post is for the piping. I had to cut it in sections, and route it. I used the angled couplings for the bends, all the pipes are straight.
And I dont have a Nismo radiator, just a Nismo sticker ;) I do however have a bigger one. Its twice as thick as the stock. Not sure who makes it, but its for an auto sentra. Fits perfectly, my friend at Pepboys hooked me up with it.
SERprise In WV 12-28-2002, 10:56 PM Pretty nice.
For somebody from Romania. :p
Good job, Serban. That setup will hold you 'til you can get the setup we've been talking about in there.
Bowlcut 12-28-2002, 11:00 PM hehehe ben moses's fence post intercooler pipeing comes into play once again :D. bout to say be careful with it poping off. what id do is get some jb weld and put a small roll around the lip of the pipes to give the clamps something to butt up against. when we did ben's we didnt go the route you did, but appears its just as easy, if you use that pvc atleast ;). i wouldint call doing the pipeing fun....dang hard work sometimes, but you get your money's worth thats for sure
sleeping 91ser 12-28-2002, 11:24 PM nice job Serban, as usual! Keep up the good work
dope... i guess 200+ at 6psi just wasnt good enough!
Witt19 12-29-2002, 12:03 AM wow, i wish i was as good at fabricating fitments like that, great job
92SE-R 12-29-2002, 01:11 AM The 90 degree bends will expand and eventually they will pop off under boost or rip a hole.

thanks, also why not spend and extra couple bucks bring your custom setup to a muffler place and get it done the right way
sleeping 91ser 12-29-2002, 05:38 AM well, hes upgrading soon enough, so I agree with what he did in putting together a cheap way to front mount the bb intercooler for the time being
TUNED200 12-29-2002, 09:44 AM nice job. i did mine out of 2.5 inch exhaust pipe from car x, and routed it different that you. i have been considering re routing my pipe, because i want my fogs back.
Brian
Serban 12-29-2002, 11:04 AM I actually got the idea from Ben Moses's car, I saw a few pics of it. I already had one pipe pop off last night, probably today or tomorrow I will use some epoxy to hold them all together.
I really didnt want to spend a few hundred dollars for a temporary setup. I'm getting a Spearco intercooler in a month or 2, and I figure this will hold up until then.

Yes, I know I need a new pop charger, but I got attached to this one for the last 5 years :D

More pipes

The end :)
Looks pretty good. And I'm sure for the time being it will serve it's purpose. I don't imagine you trying to break any HP records with it setup like that, so you should be fine.
killase-r 12-29-2002, 02:08 PM Thats a graet job man you should have your own tv show :D. you could call it Serban's garage.
