I was messing around the other day and got my hotshot secondary pipe to fit onto the MAF and connect into the fender well, like a CAI does. Its kinda cool and i can notice a little bit of power using the butt dyno scale, nothing amazing just thought i share.

I remeber this going on a while back as to whether or not it was worth it, and i think consensus was that the colder the air the better. I think I am going to try the same thing, if I can, on my car. Thanks for sharing.

CAI on a turbo does help a little, the air still gets heated by compression. Lets use theoretical numbers

In a WAI the turbo ingests 110* air...it gets heated by being compressed to 150* and cooled by the intercooler to 130*

Take that same setup with a CAI and the turbo ingests 80* airgets heated the same 40* to 120* and gets cooled the same 20* to 100*

of course these numbers are bogus and off alot but you get the point. The colder air thats ingested the lower the final temperature will be

I assume the answer is yes, but is there a distinct sound difference?

By sound diffence what do you mean, in the motor or what? I can here the intake sucking a lot louder now if thats what you wanted to know. This i just something i was messing with, i'm assuming once my front mount goes on i'll have to take this off for piping room, but for that i'm willing to loose the CAI.
