Well I've got the MDM project going strong now... for those of you who don't know about the MDM, it's a Mexican Domestic Market SE-R that I own. It's offical name is a "1993 Nissan 2000 GSR" but I usually just call it the "MDM" or "The Mexican". It has some minor but cool differences from a USDM SE-R. Everything is in Spanish on the car. The gage cluster is in km. It's still a left hand drive. Yes it's registered in Florida. Yes I have the Title. No, I have no clue how it was registered or how you can register an MDM/JDM/ect car. It has some "high tech" security features from the dealership and one very screwed up alarm system.

The car is clean and virtually bug free. I washed the outside of the car... got all the mildew, mold, and dirt off. It's been sitting for 8 months in a jungle like backyard you know... Heck, the paint job is still in pretty good shape except for some heavy scratches/gouges that happened while it was in storage over at a friends. I washed out the engine bay and got rid of all the ants, spiders, spider webs, and the field mouse nest that was sitting on the valve cover/fule rail (that was a real pain... that little guy tracked in all sorts of long field grass strands that were tied and stuck to everything!).

The trunk is now stripped out... no nothing back there. Cleaned it today with soap and water to remove years of dirt and crud. I've removed all the seats, the center console, gage cluster, glove box, and the dash. They're all going to be washed and cleaned tomorrow. I'm also going to be removing the carpet and probably the sound deading material. If I have time, I'd like to remove the door pannels and the rear shelf pannel as well.

Basically I'm trying to restore the car at this point. Next weekend's project (unless something comes up) is going to be the wiring! I tell you, it's a very very sad sight.

I'm going to try and take pics tomorrow... does anyone here have the ability to host them for me?

Still want to help work on the electrical system Carlos? Maybe I shouldn't take any pics of that...

Brad, I'm jealous. I wish I had time to do something like that... even if it was just on my car:) .

My whole intention when I bought my car was to really perfect and clean everything up. Hasn't happened and I guess that's what life is really about. My goal is the same, just going to have to be more creative about how it gets done.

Brad, do you still need my FSM? My wife and I might be driving out to Brandon tomorrow... going to buy more baby junk. If not Brandon, we'll probably be in Carrollwood or near USF.

Definitely post pics. I'll ask my brother if it's possible to find out how the car was registered in Florida, maybe all he would need is the VIN. He's an insurance investigator, tres cool job:cool:

Later,
Mark

Thanks guys...

Mark, yeah that would be great if I could get the FSM from you. I won't need it until next weekend, but if you're going to be in Brandon anyways today, give me a call if you don't mind. I'll be happy to come meet you and your wife somewhere. 813-495-8768. If you can't reach me there, it's because I'm at my parrents. 813-681-2450.

Finding out about the reg would be neat... the Vin has less numbers/letters than a US vin. I'm thinking the previous owner bribed someone. ;)

Well there's really not much left to strip out... except for the sound insulation. I mean, Figgy would be proud. =)

Hey Joey, I'm taking a day off today to look for a new job... so give me a call if you want to see the car or go get something to eat. I called and left a message but I guess you were probably still sleeping.

I am glad to see that your MDM project is on!!
As I told you before, just let me know if you need something from Mexico.

So we're the only 2 that have MDM for now...:D

Thanks again for the offer! I'll be needing your help once it's time for things like getting new badges. Right now I just need to get her running.

Once she's running, I think I'll get a specialty plate...

Here's the 4 I've been thinking about.

93 MDM
93 MEX

MDM SER
MEX SER

What should I choose? Does anyone else have anything better to suggest?

I'm leaning towards 93 MDM or MDM SER right now... my wife like MEX SER more though.

Here are a few pics of the MDM... I know many of you have e-mailed me asking to see pics. So here they are. The car is all stripped out and ready to have it's electrical issues resolved.
