I was doing some web surfing and found this page that lists the hatch struts for $32 per side. I got some from Autozone last month but some of you may need them.

Good luck

I got those exact same hatch struts. I got them in the late summer and as soon as fall came they started holding less and less. I think I should have sprung the extra $$$ for the nissan ones.

What was the brand name of those ones? The ones I bought at Autozone kick ass they are very strong.

Matt--

Did you get the 'Mighty Lift' branded ones at AutoZone? I saw them at my local store the other day, and *meant* to check their cross-reference to see if they had a NX application.

If so... do you still have the part numbers? Gotta' lose the mop-handle-in-the-hatch routine, and quick.

Thanks.

Yes they are the mighty lift brand. They had to special order them, I doubt they would be in stock at any retail location. I'll look and see if I still have the package in the garage for the part number.

I tried to buy two last fall but only one came, and they refunded my money for the other one :(

Now the hatch stays up but doesn't 'pop' so I have to use the key to open it.

I think I'll order another one and see if that does it.

If it pops when you use the key then it is the cable. If it does not pop then it is the latch. It has sagged and needs adjustment. Loosen the screws that hold it there and pull up on it a bit. It's easy.

The part number for the struts is D95564. You can order them through the website or in a store. Also, when adjusting the hatch latch you will want to move it down, not up because you want it have a little tension holding the hatch down. That way when you use either the interior pull or the key it will pop up when the tension is released. New struts also help it to pop up.

I had to do it 2 years ago when I bought the NX. I knew it had to be done, guess I forgot which direction.

FYI-My shocks are shot and it still pops. Both have fluid leakage they're dead.

But thanks for the part number as well.

I have the same problem. Mine are completely dead. I had to adjust the latch too. Thanks for that part #.

Hey no problem guys. One thing I should mention though is that one of the struts they sent me didn't have the hardware bag included so make sure yours do. They had to send mine back and it took another week to get the new one.
Good luck,
Matt

i guess im stupid..when you pull the lever on the side of your seat up..the back is supposed to pop open? never knew that..always told people to just pull up..lol..i did have to replace those strut bars as well...and i got mine from autozone too..special order for like around 30 bucks...they're holding up very well and were easy to install....anyways..the hatch is really supposed to pop open?
if yes..can someone help me out a little bit on where to go to fix this problem? thanks..:D

DJ, you may try adjusting the hatch latch downward. When you look at it you'll notice there are a couple screw/bolts that you loosen that lets the latch slide up and down. -- just nudge it down a few milimeters and tighten up again.

The bolts are 2 10mm behind some caps on the plastic. If you still have the plastic anyway, mine is all gone.
