Came over to visit you guys to see if I could info on what wheel to use. I have spent the last 3 hours reading backposts on the t3/t4 turbos that you guys are having success with.
I have asked this question to the dsm gods but I didn't get the answer I was looking for.
I currently run a 57/stage3/.63 on my car. I am looking to move up in hp without sacrificing too much spool.
I have another stage 3bb center turbo and I am looking for the best power potential from it. I am trying to find what compressor would be in betwwen a 60 and 60-1.
Here is some helpful info of back to back testing of t3/t4 combos.
Gary Andriotis did a full build on a 91 gsx. He skimped on the turbo and ran a 600$ 60trim/stage3/.63 . The car ran a best of 10.6 at 133mph in a 3000lb car.
In search of more power he switched the comprsessor wheel to a 60-1. No other changes.
on the dyno both turbos made 450whp at 26psi. at 30psi the 60 made 480whp, the 60-1 made 530whp...the cost: the 60-1 spooled 500rpm later.
Martin from Automotorsports has just completed back to back dyno testing some different t3/t4 combos. Here is what his results were.
the motor has hks272 cams, stock head, stock intake, stock ex. manni.(adapter is used) All turbos tested at 30psi.
50trim/ stage3/.63 477whp
50trim/stage3/.48 (PTE housing) 487whp
60trim/stage3/.63 500whp
super60/stage5/.63 523whp
60-1/stage3/.63(PTE housing) 520whp
The PTE housing are Precison Turbo and Engineering recast with correct a/r ratios. All ford 5 bolt housings are bored out stage1 castings. The .48 PTE was swapped diectly with ford.63. car picked up 10hp and spooled quicker!! the PTE.63 should outflow a ford.82.
after the last turbo was tested, Martin bolted on high flowing intake manifold. the power of the 60-1 jumped to 550whp.
it is difficult to quantify results of this yesting since all the turbos have a diff hotside.
Rob Cadle,
I am very interested in your opinion of a wheel that will work as good or better as per your specs. Also very interested to hear what other 7 and 7 wheels are out there that are better than the 60-1 and where can I purchase one.
