Last night I was talking to my friend while standing next to my car ( car at idle)and I heard this wierd noise coming from the rear left of my car. I bend over and listen to it and at first I thought I had a nail in my tire and I was losing air. I listen closer and it sounds like my fuel pump is making a hissing sound. (like when you turn the key on but only louder) Today I get out of my car and my turbo timer idles the car for 20 seconds and the car shuts off, as I am walking past it the car makes the same noise. (WTF) I havent noticed any performance loss but I want to make sure if this pump is going bad that I get it fixed before it goes completely bad. Or can it be something else? TIA

JK Charlie, you are the SAFC tuning God in my eyes. You are my hero!!:D

i asked this same question about a month ago as i too heard it just as u did. i got replies saying it was the fuel pump priming itself and that it is normal.

The priming is more of a humming noise. If it is hissing it is probably just the pressure on the gas tank. Lossen the cap and it should go away.

it could be the fuel check valve just behind the wheel, u can see it there... seems like ppl say nothing to worry about

You should idle your car a little longer than 20 secs, the way you always drive jack-ass. j/k like a minimum of 2 1/2 minutes. You ain't doing no justice to your turbo with 20 secs unless you just went for a drive and didn't boost (unlikely). My fuel pump makes similar sounds once in a while, I think its normal.
