Ok so check it, I was out getting my phone a new case at the at&t place and the guy in there noticed I pulled up in my se-r, he started by telling me that the car has a lot of potential and it can give nice numbers in anything. I told him that I know, well he was telling me about his friend that has a 1991 nissan sentra se-r and is running mid 14's in the 1/4mile with it. I was amazed and wondered what the hell he had in it(I am thinking bbdet, nos, or semi built motor). The guy said that all he had was a enlarged throttle body, exhaust, and a intake. I was shocked when he told me that, well all I wanted to know is if the larger throttle body really helps your 1/4mile or not? If no one knows then I will probably be the one on the testing in a heartbeat, just to see! Well I am supposed to meet with this guy and his friend next week at the tracks, but we will see! Anyway peace please feel free to yell at me to search but I will tell you I did, please respond.

I felt no gain what so ever from my throttle body. It was a waste of money if you ask me. Another thing to ad to a mod list though.

I have never heard of anyone getting any decent gain whatsoever from a TB. on the sr20.

I know I think that is weird that just this guy has a gain in his upgrade and everyone including me and my search haven't heard of any gain but like I said we will see in a week, maybe he didn't tell me everything he has on the car or how light it is and etc. I will try and remember to post about it later but feel free to keep responding!

I am thinking he is running with some laughing gas and not telling anyone!!That for sure will put him into some 14's but not the throttle body from my research.

Put that baby on a scale and see how much it weighs. :)

With an cai, header, and exhaust, high 14' are possible. Take out some weight and get some cams, pullies, and ecu and your deep into the 14's. Just look at figgy's numbers to see how much wieght matters!!!

Didn't a magazine put a Maxima TB on an SR20....80 or 90MM and get I think 1 HP and couldn't tell any difference? I forget which magazine month and year, just remember reading it.

The mag was SCC, the article was entitled something along the lines of "Making a final stab at more power", they put a bigger Maxima MAF meter on it, and IIRC they picked up about 1-2 hp, but lost around 1-3 at other places in the powerband, and concluded that it was not worth the time & money to do that mod. They already had an RC TB on the car before, but they tried the Place Racing intake then and gained around 6whp on Mike's green 200. I also have never known anyone to get anything more than 1 hp from a larger throttle body.

I was wondering if you could adjust for the maxima MAF with a super AFC.

well, Jim Fancher (AKA foo foo) ran a 14.6 on a header and POP about a bazillion years ago. i have another friend who ran 15.0 on exhaust, Hot Rod Mag ran a 15.0 butt stock. and Hassinger ran a 15.0 in a butt stock B14.

me? i ran a 14.9@94 (read: my all motre driving skills suck, as does the track i race at) on CAI, HS G3 header, Tomei cams, JWT ECU, stock exhaust (killed me, IMO)

not too hard to run a mid 14 with a good driver and some mods.
