: SR16ve fixing in B13 ???
chris_lcp 01-22-2003, 11:11 AM Hello,
1.Could the SR16ve (175hp) installing in B13 without any modification in engine mounting?
2. How about SR16ve (200hp), is it same as above without modification in engine mounting too?
3. Could it be facing spare parts problem after I have install it?
4. Is there have any parts replacement for SR16 ve. If drive sharf or other thing else of parts BREAKDOWN, Could I get it from SR18/ SR20/ SR20ve or other NISSAN engine?
5. How about the SR20ve 6-speed, could it be fix also without mounting modification?
Please advise.
Thank you.
Best Regards
chris

...the SR20VE FAQ, put together by forum members -- Hope this may help you out with most of your questions.
Damn, I get no love around here. The FAQ was 99% put together by me. I just happened to sell my VE powered B14 recently.

I will speak for myself not Jim. If you posted a question on this forum and it has not been answered in about 1 day by me or someone else then this generally means that the info is easily available in the Sticky/FAQ. If you have posted a slew of questions that the answer is just a click away for don't expect me to go typing it all over again. Most of his questions are in the sticky. Only the parts availability is a non-sticky issues as well as the 6-speed transmission. It does seem that he did not research this very well and that is why I did not respond. I think most people will say that I would help them in any way possible. Just do some research first don’t get lazy. Search "6 speed" and he will find the answer to that question on this forum. Trust me I have typed it in the last 2 days.
Chuck did an excellent job on that sticky. I added just a little bit of info and to make it look as good as Chuck did took a good amount of time. He did a fabulous job. He knows more then me about many topics. I am just a post whore and can’t control myself. ;)
Shoes59 01-24-2003, 07:11 PM I have far less knowledge of the VE than Steve or Chuck which is one of the reasons I stepped down as moderator. I performed all the mechanical details of the swap on my car but left the electrical stuff up to a close frined of mine.
I agree with Steve regarding all the repetitive questions on the subject of VE's. If the answer to a posted question is in the sticky or can easily be found by using the search function I won't bother with a reply.
Chuck and Steve have done a wonderful job filling the sticky with useful information and both have gone above and beyond when it comes to answering questions, thus filling the archives with even more useful information.
I'm in the infancy stages of a Silvia conversion and have joined some of the 240 forums. I wouldn't think of posting a question there before I read several sticky's and performed a search on the topic at hand.
macabugaoa 01-24-2003, 07:50 PM ...I stand corrected.
Chuck... I started that reply before I found out about the FAQ but forgot to mention who actually put it together for the most part... My bad. You the man.
Sorry y'all. Hope all is squared away now.

I just noticed that he is from Malaysia and as a result is probably searching in a foreign language (which is harder, much harder). So here you go.
1. Yes, the VE is basically just a difference in the head. Treat it as you would any other sr20. They all fit the same.
2. Yes, Same block
3. Most parts are interchangeable (water pumps, alternators, etc.) some parts are harder to get.
4. The drive shaft has nothing to do with the engine. It is a transmission issue.
5. The 6-speed sr20ve transmission is a totally different transmission. It is not a easy swap.
hardkorre 01-24-2003, 08:49 PM another trick is to go back one year, as opposed to the 30 day option. most of the questions asked by people, if not in the sticky, can be found way back. like april or may of 2002. you'll find a wealth of information if you go back to the beginnings. hope this helps.

That is soo true. The start of this section discussed most of what we still are discussing.
