How much abuse can Nissan (OEM CAST) Z32 piston take..as far as boost..resisiting detonation, etc...

I know some advantages are:
Low Price
Able to use stock rings
Moly coated from Nissan
somehwat friendly to generous amounts of boost

I wonder since they are cast if they expand a lot more and exactly how prone to detonation are they?
My main concern is how long they could handle 20 psi..400+hp, etc...eventhough I plan to run Water Injection and Piston Oil squirters....

I know the only forged piston that can be used with stock rings is the JWT/Aria$$$$$$$ setup .....but what other rings have proven effective in our blocks. Total seal and Ross pistons sound excellent, but has anyone ever successfully applied them to an sr20???

I guess I am just debating whether to go with the OEM Z32 or Forged....I know Forged is $$$$$, but strong.... if the Z32s will let me use stock rings..which have been proved to be the best application and I can save $ then that will be an effective alternative.. I just dont wanna build the engine and then have pistons failing....
Any help or opinions greatly appreciated..

Give ross a call and see what it would cost to have them cut the pistons for the nissan rings. We've been using ross pistons in sprint cars for years and they are some tuff stuff. The price isn't bad eather for what you get.

Also.....does the piston expansion rate have anything to do with the performance of the oem nissan rings???

That is a good idea though to see what Ross would charge for that..if that application is feasible...

The stock OE pistons are fairly stable and can be run very tight piston to wall clearances. the forged pistons like the arias jwt ones are good and have the high silca content and are quiet for forged units. All the other forged units iare mostly low silca content and need larger clearances. From what i "hear" the low silca pistons are harder on rings as far as it being a fact. I dont know. Im using weiscos myself and havent heard of any rings issues from those users.

sounds good...If Im not mistaken Ross' silica content is fairly good and can be run in tight clearences...From what i "hear" also JE pistons must be run very loose .....I guess I will have to keep researching...or win the lottery for the JWT/Aria$$ ones... I wouldnt mind using stock z32 pistons *** of the money savings but I wanna be sure and safe......
