It is getting in the way of my turbo manifold, I suppose I could move it over a little to the right and get longer heater hoses and keep it connected or just ditch it and run one straight heater hose, would this cause any problems, anyone have any thoughts?? Thanks

you can get nice aftermarket ones at www.nopionline.com for honduhs and you can get universal ones from forge or cusco. I would run one. You can move that stock box out of the way with some heater hose as well.

right, why wouldn'y you not run one? thats what im thinking i might just take out the stock box and run one heater hose in its place.

However you decide to make/buy one do not introduce an open filter to the system like so many people do, this is the incorrect way and lessins the vacuum effect and can lose or gain metered air.

Get the Moroso Unit from summit racing. It's a nice peice. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=4509 This is the same one Jay Hassinger was using on his turbo 200.

Are there any negative effects of removing the oil seperator and just running a straight piece of hose in its' place?

From what I've heard you get oil in your intake and intercooler. But I'm not sure.

That thing is hollow if I am correct, so why wouldn't a straight piece of hose work? I have seen cars with the straight hose look and I have not heard anything different.
Does anyone know?

I have done some testing on the oil seperator system. I know for a fact that the tube in the block can drain 1 qt. of cold oil in about 30 seconds through a 18" piece of 5/8" hose connected to a small funnel. This was on a 97 200SX SE-R with both pans removed to see where it entered the crankcase.

It is hollow and if you ran a straight hose, you would loose the sucktion part. It suppost to pull blow-by gases from the crankcase and re-introduce them to the combustion chamber again for a second go around. In all actuality it would have made more sense to angle the "T" down slightly, this way if oil wanted to make its way past the hole (the one that leads to the factory catch can) it would have to jump it resulting in a lesser possibility of oil making its way to the intake tract via the suction line.

I removed mine from my setup. It was in the way. I did want to keep it but instead I messed around with some baffles and hose reducers and eventually got something to work where i hardly got any oil up to the intake tube. just residue and no puddles or solid liquid. even the turbo and intercooler are clean.
