Ok, i have a question for building a stroked SR16VE. being that i have not seen any talk about using forged pistons, could you have the valve reliefs cut into them? or does anyone know of a company that makes them with the reliefs in a 10:1 compression? would it be easier to find a set of jdm sr20 pistons or finding a forged set in the 10:1 ratio?
my plan is for a streetable motor, but be able to handle a nice shot of nitrous at the track.
please dont flame due to my lack of knowledge, im only trying to learn. thanx in advance. Jim

Getting the reliefs cut is not the hard part. Getting them designed to match the sr20ve pistons is the important part. What would be easier is to get a sr20ve piston and just send it to one of the many companies that makes forged pistons and have it copied (reliefs and all). You really dont need forged pistons with a NA VE at the levels we are talking about for street use (ie lower compression ratio).

the reason im interested in forged pistons is so i could throw some nitrous on it later. so i might as well put them in now when i would have it stroked, ya know?
how much is it to have a company make a piston for you? i dont want the VE compression, i would want 10:1 to yield a 11.3:1 compression in the stroked 16ve.

Then I would do the rods also if nitros is in your plans.
I would just get some flattop pistons and call it good. That should be fine for about 11.3 or so. There is another thread going right now about this. I would read it also.

Here's another crazy question. Can 8.8:1 forged pistons (turbo application), work in the sr16ve? What would the compression be in the VE with these pistons?
My friend is matching up the pistons tomorrow to see the height difference, but not sure on if the compression ratio would be signifantly lower with the 8.8:1's (when he turbocharge the engine).

which thread do u mean? can u link it for me?
also you say use some flattop pistons, do u mean a forged flattop or just a factory flattop? also, what about the valve reliefs?

i am going to have some forged pistons made specifically for the ve. you will never have to worry about valve clearance. just state what the displacement(bore/stroke) and i can get you to your desired compression ratio.

what companys going to be making them? what kinda price tag? and will rings be supplied with them? the bore and stroke would be 86.0mm X 86.0mm and i would need a 10:1 ratio. dont need them yet but great news to hear that i can get them.
