I just installed the NA JWT ECU on my Classic.
My timing was set to 17 prior to the install, and to save paying the $500 core charge I changed it in the parking lot of Mossy Nissan (Thanks Greg Vogel).
Greg recommended setting the timing back to 15 but I couldn't do that until I got home.
Well the car is running pretty good with the timing set to 19 and the ECU. No sign of detonation or ping and I use 91 octane gas all the time.
Should I go ahead and turn down the timing?
Also for those of you who are thinking of getting this expensive mod I will give a short review of my short 1 day experience and butt dyno.
The car rev's quicker and smoother, shifts appear to be needed quicker even though the redline is raised to 7800.
Power seems to come on real strong about 3500 and doesn't give up all the way to the new redline.
I also got a hotshot gen5 header which will go on next. I'm real excited about this mod since it gives the best increases. And I understand the ECU will help here also.
Has anyone taken their car to JWT for after installation tuning, do they do this?
TIA
