i went back to the shop that installed my muffler because after they did it, the pipe over the axle was banging.. the owner was pretty cool about it and i was sitting waiting for of course the guy who hardly speaks english to correct the flaw... i figured he'd put shorter hangers in or something.. from the waiting room i heard some awful pounding/banging and immediately bad thoughts of him flattening the pipe for clearance shot through my head.. car came down, he came out and told me he raised the exhaust up.. ok fine, well today i checked over my car and my worse fear is true.. what a moron.. it looks more indented than the picture shows and now the pipe is rusting where he scraped the paint off.. it's a pacetter..
how should i handle this with the shop? how can i hold them accountable? if/when they deny responsibility, how can i threaten them short of grabbing the guy by the collar and cutting off his air supply?
UNDRCOVR 02-01-2003, 07:22 PM Tell them to fix it before you turn them into the better Business Bureau. Thats Bull$hit. I had a shop chip my old stering wheel(the one thats for sale :) ) and they didnt fix it. I brought up the BBB, and they knocked 100$ off my bill....Josh

Andy92RubyClassic 02-02-2003, 01:11 AM anybody else?
NismoSER 02-02-2003, 01:48 AM Oy. What a mess! Go back and talk with the owner/manager. Make them do what they should have done: like you said, put on shorter hangers or bend the hangers not the pipe!!
Short of having them buy a new Pacesetter, maybe have them weld in a new piece of pipe where its bent up now and fix the hangers.
BBB shouldn't be your first option, I'd say save that for later if the shop doesn't want to meet with your demands. Good luck!

Andy92RubyClassic 02-03-2003, 01:26 PM Wow, i just called the owner and told him what his guy did as nicely as i could.. The owner didn't act surprised at all and didn't even doubt me one bit! He seemed prepared for my call and said he'd need a couple hours to fix it.. Wed 8am he's going to do it.. i assume put a new section in.. 2 1/4 seems to match up perfectly to the pacesetter.. can anybody confirm this? he could also do 2.5 if i ask..
Andy
make sure he isnt using crush bent tubing. if he did, id flatten his head with the same hammer.

Andy92RubyClassic 02-03-2003, 08:07 PM he also lifted the car by the front sway bar... i don't think that hurt it though.

Andy92RubyClassic 02-05-2003, 08:43 AM i went there today and the owner gave me my $ back because he didn't feel like fixing it.. the sway bar mounts looks fine.
anybody know of GOOD exhaust shop in ME, MA, NH? i want to get this bend corrected with a mandrel piece and a resonator put in..
jomama 02-05-2003, 09:22 AM i don't think putting jack stands under the sway bar hurts the car. when i had my clutch put in, my car was supported a the sway bar.
Andy92RubyClassic 02-05-2003, 12:18 PM i think so too.
