When I got my 200sx Se-R i took it to a nissan dealership to get it checked out and they said everything was fine except the motormounts were starting to show some wear. I have a 97 with just under 60k miles on it. The nissan rep said the problem was not a big deal and that the worste that would happen is i would idle i little rough when i came to a stop. Now some girl I know takes me to "meet" her family (cough cough) and her cousin tells me that much more serious problems can come from whats going on with my car. I have no backround of his car knowledge so Im more inclined to go with the nissan dealership but i figured it wouldnt hurt to ask here on the forum. Thanks for any help and btw I said something to a freind of my dads and he said fixing the problems pretty simple if u have something to hoist the motor. thnks again for any input.

Motor mounts aren't that difficult to change. The right tools and patience are good to have though. Give yourself enough time to do them and make sure you have a jack, maybe 2 around. Are you asking advice for stock replacement or aftermarket?

Well if they dont NEED to be replaced I'd rather not deal with them but if I have to I might as well go for aftermarket instead of realizing that I shoulda done them down the road.

I would go with a set of the energy suspension inserts. I use them in my turbocharged se-r and they hold up alright. If you are not putting out any serious hp i think the energy suspension inserts would work great (assuming your mounts are not totally destroyed). They are relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to install if you have a couple of jacks.

The consensus is yes, replace them, and I agree. If you're mounts are lose your engine/tranny "wiggles" when you get on and off the throttle. When it gets bad enough you will hear it wiggle, mind did. Sit in your driveway, rev it to 5.5 and then let off the throttle, you'll hear a click noise when the mounts are far enough gone.

Replace them. You can get the inserts from Courtesy for either 30 for 2 or 70 for all 4, something like that. Very easily install. If you decide to put them in, post back and the board will give you some tips on how to do it.
