Something other then a JWT ECU.

Well a friend of mine got really really pissed at JWT. So now he's looking to F them up.

He's already finished the one for 300Z's and he's thinking of testing it out on my SR20DET.

Who'd be interested?

Here's the Info.

I would hate to be the mule knowing it would cost money for the unit and perhaps a motor, but I would love to try it if I don't pay for it....It looks like a good program but from what I understand, its a piggyback right?

Does it convert to a MAP or keep the existing MAF, can you change the value of the MAF if it does? I couldn't find the answers to this on that page but it looks good.

Can I try one for cheap?

Oh yeah I know your friend hates JWT but if you already have their chip is it compatible?

ok so as I read the questions on the bottom I figured it keeps the MAF but they call it MAS anyway it says that once its maxed out you go to a dual intake filer..whatevery anyway can we change to different MAF's?

Sorry for so many questions but it sounds like a good inexpensive alternative to many of the things out there.

YOu think your a super hero? Single handedly take down JWT? Why? Just curious :D

The guy that made that stuff is pretty damn smart.. I've heard of him. Isn't he the same guy that went to court to argue an unfair ticket? The guy went with all sorts of scientific data on how he could not have been speeding...based on the officer's tesitmony. And he won! Anyways, most people know and trust JWT... I have a lot of respect for them. It will be hard to convince the masses to switch over.

i think the z32 and the se-r have different structures it wont work

This looks and sounds alot like a DSM-Link. The perferred tuning choice for mildly built 2G's DSMs.

Guys, this guy knows his shit, and he CAN make it work for our cars, he just needs a car and the time and the money from the test mule. I have first-handedly seen his car and seen it grow up from the N/A rubber burning car it used to be to the stock TT it now is running 12.8s at the track with everything pretty much stock except his ECU system,

id be interested in it... if it woked well... i am in iowa so mostlikley too far for testing.. but it looks very workable.. if it can do all the things the jwt can i am up for it.... i am talking about the speed meter defeat and everything... i am very interested in the turnout of this.

ASH Powers. This guy know his shit. look his website up. He made so many damn fab work for the Z32. The name is very well known at TT.net.

I don't think there's a big enough market for it for se-rs at that price. The base unit is $450 and the pro is $600. Also the cost to have your ecu's eprom socketed is $50. However, the se-r ecu dosn't use a seperate eprom, thus you will have to use a seperate daughter board, so I'd have to imagine that would be more than $50. That's more than a jwt ecu or greddy's e-mange (not to mention an s-afc). It is cheaper than a stand-alone and offers the same degree of precision, but I don't think that market is really that big for the se-r. To be frank I think most se-r owners are too cheap for that price point. But hey, prove me wrong, I'd love it. And just for the record I own a JWT ecu. Now if the whole kit and kaboodle was under $400 I'd think differently.

calum i think the 450 and 600 your talking about is for the tuning software and harware...not the daughterboards and such...i oculd be wrong ***...thats what i got out of it

Right, $450 or $600 just for the hardware and software. The hardware is just an eprom emulator and the software is a map editor. The trick is the 300zx computer only needs the factory eprom pulled at this point and replaced with a socket. This is where the ash hardware interfaces to. The se-r ecu however does not have a seperate eprom on board, its memory are on one of the micros. In order to use a seperate eprom you must move one of the resisitors (esentially flip a switch) and it will use (assuming its there) the eprom on the daughter board. Obviously to do this requires a daughter board, hence even more cost on top for se-r ecus. S13 ecus are the setup the same way as se-r ecus (note that S13 daughter boards (well, at least not the infamous badbiki ones) do not work with se-r ecus and obviously the code is not the same, just the process is the same), do a search on google for s13 plus rom tuning, you'll see what I mean.

Thats what I got out of all this anyway, correct me if I'm wrong. :) I think its a cool package, and more power to him (pun intended) if he does make a setup for se-rs, but I don't think there's that much of a market for it in se-r land.

I think the better market plan would be to sell to shops (or individuals) that want release closed box ecus just like JWT and/or sell closed box ecus himself. Maybe this is what was originally intended. :)

yes, i would be interested. i run a JWT ecu on my turbo GA16DE. its a great unit, but i have to send it back for changes:( i have a wideband unit and access to chassis dynos, so tuning my car wouldnt be a problem......only thing is, there arent that many EMS options for us. keep us posted:)
