I have a 97 se-r, i was wondering does anybody know if you can switch ecu's between new'r se-r or g20's, that will increase the rev' limiter and top speed(just overall enhance the performance without any problems)

you want the 94-96 G20 ECU to raise the limit to 7500 RPM
It will give a check engine light though

lets say, i have a 92 sentra se-r obd1 and wanted to do that g20 ecu swap for 7500 rev. Isn't the 94-96 g20 obd2? Will obd2 work in a obd1 car? not sure of this but someone correct me if i'm wrong.

OBD-1 is a name given to the first level of required (clean air act of 19XX) self-diagnostics that specifies that things that make emissions exceed the std be reported to driver in the form of a check engine light. OBD-1 also requires that a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) be stored that can be retrieved by a service person. The other things required are some simple test features to acknowledge inputs from some of the sensors and an activation test that operates the items that the engine management operates (injectors, idle control valve, egr valve regulator).

OBD-2 is a more comprehensive requirement that requires any emissions critical part or function that the manufacturer can't assure will have ABSOLUTELY NO FAILURES to be tested.
OBD-2 has different levels and not all cars have as extensive an array of features.
ALL OBD-2 have misfire detection, catalytic converter monitoring, storage of certain sensor values and operating conditions at fault occurrence, and the capability to have the info retrieved by a generic scanner tool through a common digital language.
Further testing that is phased in and is on 100% as of 98 yr model (it might be 99 in some cases if the manufacturer earned credits that allowed it to delay is the fuel tank vapor leakage test than many out there are very familiar with.

o.k. i have a 99 sentra se and my friend and i are going to install
an ecu from a spec v se-r. because i was told by someone we know from a dealership, that it canceled the governer and let me
rev over 9000.

WHAT?! That's not even the same motor. I doubt the plugs are the same and if you do find a way to wire it up your car probably won't even start. Your car can't rev to 9000 on stock components anyhow. Your friend is full of it.

HAHAHA....thanks for a good laugh, that made my day.

Seriously though, it wont work, your friend is quite full of it.

WOW

This is the first time I hear someone say this. We are not jinxing you but this WON'T WORK! Who told you this? Read www.se-r.net and search the forums before you start doing crazy things. Someone told me that a b13 se-r ecu which has a rev limiter of 7600 and a removed speed governer will fit snugly in my se-l. Wow - I guess he forgot that this was OBDI vs OBDII.

it should not throw a check engine light....only for 98's i believe a couple wires have to be swapped around

your 92 se-r should already have a 7500 rev limit....and the stuf about the spec V computer..that *** too funny:p
