I recently acquired an NX2K and the car is sitting in a wholesaler's lot. I tracked down the previous owner and she basically said the engine's seized. She did not know anything else. I attempted to start the car and basically its making the same type of noise you get when you have a starter w/ a dead spot on it. I am completely unfamiliar with the internals of an engine. (Im a suspension type-of-guy). It is holding a full load of oil and water as it sits. I couldnt get under it due to snow and the lack of a jack. Does the car need a whole new engine or just the bottom end?

maybe the the flywheel has chipped teeth off of it and the starter wont engage, if it were me id drain the oil and water and seee how they look, if you have shavings in the oil its probably locked up.

Pull the plugs, then crank it. (to start with anyway). I have come across a couple of motors(not all sr20s) being "hydro-locked" with either water or fuel.
uh...what would be the symptoms of that? would the starter turn over with the plugs out rather than just clicking? If so, what would I do next to see if water lock is the problem?

Hydro-locked- the motor would not turn at all, starter just clicking due to fluid being not easily compressed. Removing the plugs gives the fluid a place to go (more like shoot out) Be sure to disable the ignition.
This is just a quick check, that I would do on suspect "seized" motors.

Lol, if its hydro locked, its fun when you cranck it with the plugs out. See if you can get one of your friends to peer down at the plugs while you crank it. :p If you've ever been to Yellowstone ...
hahahahah Ill make sure to bring the guys from my car club...they mostly are die-hard Honda guys and hate Nissans
