Hey, gang--

Now that I'm one of you NX-types, it took about oh, three seconds of driving to realize the NX headlights suck in the biggest of ways.

My solution:
http://www.turbochargedse-r.com/nxlights.jpg

These are headlights from a Japanese-market NX2000, sourced from a junkyard on Okinawa. The lenses look clearer and brighter (may be the reflector is brighter, too). The BEST thing is that the Japanese-market lights come with H4 bulbs, which should improve visibility dramatically.

The install is planned for the first freakin' day above 50*, which by current standards will be in July some time. Just kidding. Actually, I hope to install these lights within the next 30 days.

A full report and pics of beam patterns will be forthcoming.

How much did these lights cost you?

And how did you acquire it ?

Let's just say these lights were more than $100, but less than $250.

I acquired them via a forum member who is on Okinawa. He removed them from a Japan-market NX2000 in a junkyard, then shipped them to me.

I have NO idea how many junked NXs there are on Okinawa....but I can ask next time he is on AIM, then report back here.

Will those H4 bulbs be compatible with the USDM wiring harness?

And how many headlight sets can your friend source?

Thomas--
As far as wiring goes...the Japan-market lights are a 3-wire hookup, just like the US models. Mine were cut about 6" upstream of the light socket, so I should either be able to just replace the socket....or....simply cut and solder the wires on the car to the wires coming out of the j-spec lights.

One thing I *have* noticed is that the marker light (an 1157 bulb, IIRC, on the US-market cars) is on the outer (fender) side of the headlight on the j-spec lights. It is on the inner (grille area) side of our US-market lights. So, some remedial wiring/soldering will be in order to lengthen those wires. Easy.

Even my wife (who daily drives the NX) is excited. Yikes.

BTW...I have no idea how many -if any at all- can be had on Okinawa. I will ask my source the next time I converse with him via AIM, and let you guys know.

Damnit, GP, you've been here, what, a month? And you're already showing us all up. Slack off, a little... new NX owners are supposed to ask stuff like, "I heard that the NX suspension is similar to the Sentra's... Is that true?", and, "Who makes the best cat-back for the NX?". ;)

GP isn't showing anyone up, we have the same thing. these are the EURO ones that Koschi provided us. NXCRazy has them actually on his NX. WE got them a month and a half ago. This is a pic and it looks the same to me. He even sent the brightness adjust switch, not that I know how to hook that up yet.

It took 38 days. That might be a new record for you. :p

Question for Kelly: Will SE-R struts fit an NX2000?

I will send you -free of charge- the US-spec headlights out of my NX2000 after I make the switch. Put them on your car, and then say that again. ;)

The US lights really are terrible. The only thing from making the NX a perfect car, IMHO.
