I got the same filter. Heres what I did.
I just sawed off the plastic box around the MAF and then bought a 4'' to 3'' adapter from Home Depot. I screwed the 4'' side to the MAF ( on the horn looking thing) and then I put the filter on the 3'' side. It FITS!! You might need some silicone to keep the filter from sliding out though. Hey grand total of ( cha ching) $30. $25 for filter $5 for adapter.

Can I get some more detail on what the adapter I would be looking for looks like maybe it's original use? also can you thing of a way this would work without cuttin the stock air box? Maybe tapping out the gold ring? thanks alot

The Jay Hass trick. Just take the stock airbox off and pop the rivits on the brass MAF adapter on it and bolt the airfilter to it. It is radiused to it should provide a nice smooth flow to the MAF. Cost: nothing!!!
I will look for the URL.

Ian, here you go...it's an old article and the pictures to enlarge are no longer there but you can get the idea.

Works like a champ. I used this intake to go 15.0 with underdrive pullies and nothing else. I eventually went 14.3 with this same intake in 98* weather and didn't really pick up that much with the CAI (Small gain) so I know it works well.

Cheap too.
