Yea, I thought I got your attention! ha ha! I was considering a bored MAF for $55.00 as advertised in the performance parts section....but when I looked at my MAF sensor, I noticed there's nothing even in the way through the main hole. So my idea is to just use a cylinder hone(usually about $10) powered by a drill to enlarge the hole...my guess is that all those expensive MAF's came from some guy in his garage with a cylinder hone. What a scam! I don't see any reason against doing this...of course tuning via S-afc will follow.

I'm pretty sure you cannot hone cast aluminum. Those stones will gum up with aluminum the first few passes. Those hones are for steel, and it would take forever to hone off 3.5mm of aluminum anyways, but i'm sure you will try it anyways.

Accurate? Those hones are meant to resurface cylinders--they better be accurate. ..and to keep from gumming them up, I will just keep a nice spray of Pb-blast and brake-clean alternately. 3.5mm should be a snap. Tell ya what...I've got a hone and a spare MAF...I'll do it tomorrow or monday and let you know if it gummed up or if I encountered any problems.
Does anyone know how far you can go before you hit something you're not supposed to? This will be fun....boldly go, or don't go at all.

Yea, you're right, it would take forever. I honed for 5 minutes and washed away a lot of aluminum dust, but it still had a ways to go to get to that 3.5mm. I haven't given up though...where there's a will, there's a way.

I do not think its worth the time and effort. I do understand that everyone wants a good deal but when STILLEN sells the same product for $175 and I sell it for $80 shipped thats not such a bad deal. I do all the work and take car of all the problems. If something goes wrong I take the brunt of the lost so I feel what I am offering is not a bad deal.

Hey more power to you, instead of using a drill, try using a drill press, get every thing going and just leave it like that, and every 5mins or so go spary it to cool it down.

They aren't meant to be a boring tool. The MAF needs to be precisly bored. A Cylinder HONE will not work, and like mentioned above the stones will gum up immediately. Trust me I know ;)

What can you use for grinding aluminum? I'm not fing with my TB bore just knife edging all entry ports in IC pipes and TB.
