The correct spark plug for the SR20VE is NGK BKR6E-N

N = Special ground electrode (note: appears to be limited to BMWs) and in this case Nissan SR20VE VVL engines

....................well can you confirm this?

By the way did you know alot of SR20VE's come from Avenir's?

the part # i have is 22401-1N516

I tested other plug, like ngk iriway 7, the original still the best.

I believe Shumacher was told by an NGK rep to get the BK6EIX-11 plugs. Interestingly this site lists this plug as the Iridium replacement for the BKR6E-N-11. http://www.clubplug.net/iridium_cross.html

if i measure corectly, the gab for the original plug (bkr6e-n)is 0.8mm.

I think there is a difference between bkr6e-n-11 and bkr6e-n

Probably the difference between a copper plug (0.8mm gap) and a platinum plug (1.1mm gap).

Please explain this for me. They both have essentially the same part number why would the plug be different. I always thought the bkr6e-11 meant it was a 1.1mm gap and a bkr6e-8 was a .8 plug.

And you were right!
Numbers after the dash in those part #s indicate ONLY hte manufacturer (suggested) pre-gap.

.8mm and 1.1mm.

my fsm says if i remember corectly, bkr6e-11 is for ga motors and bkr6e is for sr

Kesi what does GA and SR DE's spark plugs matter?, were talking about the VE's spark plugs, no offence. Look I talked to my Japanese friends over at OVERNIGHT PARTS LOL and they gave me these part numbers for the SR20VE BKR6E-N and the last number only indicates like someone said the gap in mm. Think about it special ground electrodes = N its that way for a reason, just guessing but could be because the really high compression and the piston comes very close to the plug. But obviously the later isn't a problem because no one have blown up.

I was going off my experience with plugs for the SR20DE where the platinum plugs are gapped wider. It just so happens the copper plugs for the DE are spec'd at 0.8mm and the platinums are 1.1mm. Of course, you pointed out the part numbers are the same... and that name looks like a copper plug.

BKR5E-11 (1.0 - 1.1mm) or (.039 - .043in) is standard for the GA16DE

BKR6E (.8 - .9mm) .031 - .035in and PFR6B-11 (1.0 - 1.1mm) .039 -.043in is standard for the SR20DE and DET excpet GTi-R.

GA16DE uses a hotter plug because its a pretty cold engine, doesn't make alot of horsepower.

Both SR20DE and SR20DET use the same heat range and gaps because they are generally hotter engines they make more horsepower..........the reason the SR20DET still uses the same heat range as the SR20DE is because it has lower compression 8.5:1 vs 9.5:1, it has piston oil squirters vs no piston oil aquiters, it has sodium exhaust filled valves vs no sodium exhaust filled valves and I also depends on where the DET is being sold and there available octane, I have seen where some SR20DET have a heat range of 7 spec'd but in all most all cases the GTi-R had 7's and a slightly different part number than all other DET's. It is probably a good idea to go 1 heat range colder out here in U.S. if you only have 91 octane available whereas the places these engines come from have alot higher octane gasoline.

Sorry to bring this old thread back up, but in searching for the BKR6E-N plugs I found many references to B16A motors. Has anyone used these plugs yet?

According to Kojima:
Original text Here (http://www.sentra.net/tech/garage/engine.php?S=392c95f338ff33dcc71a5a7d643bea3d#Spar k%20plugs%20and%20Ignition%20systems)
In my opinion the best spark plugs for the GA16DE are the stock Genuine Nissan plugs. I like the PFR6B-11 SR20DE platinum plug in the GA16DE.
Seems that the GA/DE and SR/DE engines aren't that different. As if anyone cares in this forum. :)
