: ES vs JWT motor mount comparison
david 02-19-2003, 10:56 AM I've had the ES full motor mount inserts in for quite a few months now. I was pretty happy with them. I would still get wheel hop from time to time though. I also still noticed the motor moving when letting off the throttle and other places. Overall they were much better than stock but they still weren't quite what I wanted. There was a small amount of vibration, nothing that great though.
Over the weekend I installed some JWT solid motor mounts I bought. I installed the front (passenger side), left (rear crossmember). I left the left ES insert (front crossmember) in because I felt it was better than the flimsy JWT one that uses stock bushings. I also left in the ES tranny insert but that was not by my own choice. I was having no luck lining up that mount at all. I finally gave up and just the ES insert in there. I'm not sure why it doesn't want to line up but when I have more time I will play with it.
As far as my impressions after changing the mounts. The vibration has increased. Though I don't care, I actually like it. Its not really a cabin vibration, more the whole car vibrating. The steering wheel vibrates slightly more at idle. AS far as driving impressions, the JWT mounts are 100% better. Throttle response is better, shifter feel is much much better. I also don't feel the engine banging back when letting off the trottle anymore. Wheel hop seems to have disappeared as well. That is hard to tell right now though, as the roads are still wet.
Just thought you guys would like some back to back impressions of the ES inserts vs the JWT mounts.
TREYDEE 02-19-2003, 11:33 AM Yea but what about the Place Racing mounts??

I have the place racing mounts...Your girl will love them, they vibrate like a bitch! :D
Serioulsy though, i like them. The motor doesnt move at all, the vibration is only bad when the car is cold, once it warms up its not too bad. Some people care about vibration, my car is a track car so i dont really care...
david 02-19-2003, 12:23 PM Based on what I have seen from the PR mounts. They tend to shake the front end of the car a lot more. The first generation ones were really bad. Anything not tied down would eventually be vibrated loose. I know there are newer ones, Rob has them.
I don't believe they vibrate as bad. Though I don't know for sure, I haven't been in a car with the newer ones.
I would say the JWt mounts are the happy medium as far as vibration goes. I'm not sure about which would be more solid though.
NX$paniard 02-19-2003, 12:35 PM any body try the new sr20 development ones...Im curious to see whats up with those since JWT ones are so hard to find and so damn expensive!!
david 02-19-2003, 02:22 PM Where did you hear about these sr20development ones? You sure they aren't just stock mounts filled with window weld?
mpg9999 02-19-2003, 02:52 PM It was on there website.
willi93ser 02-19-2003, 03:17 PM and all these mounts work with the BBDET swap correct, because i am ordering one in early july. i looked at the es mounts and they seemed to be nice and the JWT are expensive, and i didnt even look at place racing.
coach 02-19-2003, 03:25 PM Yes they all work on the BB DET.

david 02-19-2003, 03:26 PM sr20 mounts are the same in all US SR platforms except for 2000 + 2001 B15 SE's.
That means all 1991-1999 sr powered cars use the same mounts. You can use the same mounts installing a DET,GTIR,VE
The place racing mounts are going to be as expensive or more than the JWT ones.
Show me a link to the mounts on the sr20development website. I would like to see what it says and the price.

Well I just ordered the other 2 inserts from ES last night. I have the torque set now, and figured since I'm going turbo might as well have the whole set. I'm just trying to prolong tranny life:D

I looked quick, I must have missed it. Someone should call them up and find the details on them. Though stock motor mounts almost cost that much so I wonder what mounts they are including exactly and what they are doing to them.
As for the mounts prolonging tranny life, that is not really the point of them too much, though they do help with wheel hop. They have many more benefit than that though. I never realized just how squishy the ES inserts are though until installing the JWT ones.
SeenSense 02-19-2003, 10:30 PM Are JWT's factory replacements or are they inserts? i need motor mounts what do you suggest
Well from what I've gathered. Wheel hop kills trannies. I'm pretty sure that's what killed mine. Maybe when I'm going for 300+hp I'll go with the JWT's but until then I'll stick with my ES'
BORNGEARHEAD 02-20-2003, 12:23 AM Nissan Motorsports also has mounts available and are EXACTLY like JWTs. I talked to a tech from Nissan Motorsports and he said that they and JWT get them from the same manufacturer. They're a lot cheaper. But make sure you order the right ones from the catalog. They made a typo in the catalog, and do not offer the front(dogbone) mount. In the front of the catalog there is a number you can call for all info on their parts. The guy on the other end of the phone knows his shit too.

2000se2.0 02-20-2003, 04:49 PM i just got and installed the ES inserts on my sr20de b15. i was not impressed, actually feels like new. i guess i was expecting better stiffness. unfortunatlye, there are no other full poly mounts for the b15. it was $20 for both front and rear mounts, so i got em anyways. i aslo got a full set of new mounts from mossy nissan as well. got 80k miles and feel it was worn out.
WhiteSER20 02-20-2003, 07:52 PM my mounts are shot... i need whole mounts *i think* not just the inserts...
what are recommendations?
its not a track car, its a daily driver...im on a budget
