Im going to the DYNO in about 15 minutes. Im going to have to DYNO hot (operating temp) because of the SHOPS schedule. I have DYNOED cold in the past. Like having the car parked for 3 hours and then dynoing without a warm-up. Which do you guys think is better? I just want a lil debate.

I do it with the engine warm. I would think you would get more consitant numbers once the engine is completly warmed up.

You would most likely dyno the highest on the cool motor providing there is no tuning change. Cooler air and cooler engine bay. My best numbers have always been on the 1st pass.

Always DYNO hot. If you want to lie to yourself about your #s and be all happy how high they are thats good. A true world dyno is done when the car is hot thats how you drive the car and thats when you most likely will reace the car. Your best run in my opinion will come right after the fans have just shut off.

My car has always dynoed well cold. My higher HP numbers have been when the car has gottern warmer. Like after the first two dyno pulls. My car usually puts down the most power like on my 3rd pull.

what he said
i spoke with a guy that races bmw's in scca that was running the dyno and he states that because our cars are such small displacement engines they will usually dyno better after a couple pulls. I saw a 3whp difference on a dynometer between my first and third pull.

I blew up an SR20 revving it while it was cold, I don't know if I would take mine to 7000+rpm without letting it warm up, first. :D

Why in the world would anyone who loves their engine rev it to 7K+ when it is cold. That is crazy. The oil is thick as crap and the thermostat is closed. I lose 20+ psi in oil pressure once my engine is warm (goes from 50 or so psi at idle to 20psi at idle). pushing that oil at high rpm is not good for your car.
