hey,

I posted questions on my jdm swap the other day and I just finished day one. Things are going slowly but surely. What do you do with the ac during the swap. My friend suggests just removing the compressor from the block, leaving all the lines connected, and just pulling it out of the way when I drop the engine. Will this work? If I could avoid charging or discharging the system, that would be great. The car is a 92, and I think its still running the old refridgerant.
Thanks

If you plan to keep your AC, that should work. It might make pulling the engine a bit harder, but I think you can still do it. Just as long as you don't crack open any fittings or break any of the lines, the system will stay closed. And yes you should have R12, the "old" refrigerant in a 92 unless somewhere in it's past someone else swapped over to r134a. Hope that helps some. Oh, I may not have an SR20 car, but I've been invloved in pulling 4 in the last few months, so I do have an idea whats udner the hood.:)

I disconnected mine. Pulling engine from the top, I don't see how it could stay connected without crushing or damaging the lines somehow.
