yesterday when i put in my new oxygen sensor, i noticed that my right wheel shakes and my left wheel doesnt. the wheel shakes with the rotor itself. does anyone know if this is supposed to happen or should i just check to see if my lug nuts are tightened?

Any obvious play in the wheel while jacked up points to wheel bearings. Or maybe more simply loose hub nut which will lead to bad wheel bearings.

The truth was spoken. That was a clear problem I had on my pathfinder. Bad wheel bearings was the culprit.

maybe this is why my wheel shakes at 60+. i have new tires also. maybe when i had my old messed up tires and rims i think that's why the bearing might have messed up if that is even the problem.

i know of a lot of older gm cars that have had wheel bearing problems and they usually come with a sound dependant moan. but i dont have this.

If you have a car with ( ABS ) watch for the sensor.

More truth

okay, somebody i know who knows quite enough about mechanics rode in my car yesterday and i told him about my bearing problem. but he said that there was no sound that it was the bearing and it maybe something like a bushing. i havent had time to actually look at it, but i just want to know all the possibilities that it could be. i know i replaced one axle a while back and i know that eventually i would need the other. could this be contributing to the problem? or should i start pricing wheel bearings?

It's easy to tell if it's the bearings. Jack up the front of the car, and rock the wheel back and forth with one hand at the top of the wheel, the other at the bottom. If there's any play beyond an 1/8" or so, you've probably got bad bearings. If you're still not sure have a friend rock the wheel while you watch from underneath. Look at the bushings, ball joint and axle where it goes into the hubs.

My front bearings were bad and the only noise I heard was the rotor scraping the dust shield on one side.

If you say that the rotor moves as well you may want to check and see that the axle nut is not loose. I had this problem a while back and I thought my wheel bearings were bad. It actually turned out to be that my axle nut was loose. You may want to check that out to.

if the wheel shakes side to side, it might be the tie rod.
if the wheel shakes up and down, it might be the wheel bearing.
or it might be a worn out suspension bushing.
or you might have to tighten the axle nut.

well i finally got a chance to look at my wheel today. the wheel shakes from side to side and up and down along with the rotor. i didnt have a chance to take off the wheel to see if the axle nut is on tight because with my rota wheels my old tire iron doesnt fit completely over the lug nuts.

It doesn't matter how tight you tighten the lug nut it will still shake. Just get it fixed before you damage something else.

In addition to checking all of the above, double check the tightness of the bolts that mate the hub assembly to the strut. If they are loose, it can mimic the play you'll get with bad wheel bearings.

My bet is the balljoint is shot.

okay i took a video of what's going on with my wheel bearing. or axle. i discovered that i have a big ass tear in my boot.

i tried shaking the wheel as best as i could so you all can see what's going on. i noticed that the dust shield for the rotor does not move with the wheel but the rotor does.
i have to go out and buy an electric impact right now because the tire iron i have will scratch my rims so i just want to be sure of what it could be before i start working on it.
