My nx revs out at about 90mph in third. If I do my math right, a g20 would max (7500rpm) at 96 in 3rd. Does this concur with g20 ppl ?

Alright, since I haven't reached transmissions yet from my training at UTI, would someone please explain to me which would be better for each of the following: city driving, highway driving, and 1/4 mile times? Or you could just explain the formula to me.

short, long short.
It's called torque multiplication. Expressed as a ratio. Final drive for NX/SE-R is 4.176:1 which means the tranny output shaft spins 4.176 times for each turn of the axle. You use the transmission ratios to determine crankshaft-to-axle ratios for overall torque multiplication.
You multiply all of the ratios to get overall torque multiplication.
As an example, full throttle 5th gear at torque peak (135 lb-ft)
135 * 0.756 * 4.176 = 426 ft-lb of torque at axle pushing the car's weight.
In first gear, you get 135 * 3.333 * 4.176 = 1,879 ft-lb of torque at the axle pushing the car's weight.
That's why you get so much acceleration in 1st gear as opposed to 5th gear.
To absolutely correct, one must take into account for tire radius, also, since that contributes to equation. But, you get the idea.

The wierd thing is that with a QR tranny the se-r would be faster than with the SR 5spd . That is until you get over 120mph and that is when the 5spd passes the 6spd.

that G20 tranny would be great for a turbocharged vehicle
being tthe unexperienced fool that i am.....why dont more people do this then, or do they and i am a fool like i said?

Hey B13SentraXe, How do you like UTI? Its crossed my mind a few times. How much does it cost?

Cool information. I kind of like the 1st gear differences. Maybe I'm not interpeted the info wrong, but it looks as though the G20 1st gear is "taller". Wouldn't that help on hard launches? Reason I ask is that the se-r's 1st gear feels sooooo short. When I try to "hop" on it, it feels as though I have to shift too soon.

the whole gearbox is "longer" because of the final drive difference

the reason most turbo guys dont get a g20 tranny is that not all came w/ lsd. they are rare.
