i just wanted to know if there was 2 different type of oil filters used on the sr20de motor (high port low port) the reason that i am asking is i just purchase a bb det and wanted to know which filter from what years ser to use. and what oil, type you guys use for the summer and the winter. i want to use mobil synthetic but i do not know which grades to use.

well one for the low port(newer sr20) is a bit larger than the high port..

i dont have a det or turbo yet but ill use the same oil.. mobil 1 5w30 or valvolinr 5w30

yeah, just get a oil filter for a high port engine 91-93, it will work fine, that is what I use on my Det.

plus get OEM nissan filter. It has the drainback plug.

the 91-93 highports use a 53J00 filter and 94-99 high/lowports take a 65F00 (use to be 9E000) filter.

The filter for the lowport engine is a bit shorter than the highport one.

SO let me get this straight use mobil 5w30 and use a 94-99 highport oil filter 65f00 right? nissan oem of course.

I've got a U13 BB DET and a 91-93 sentra SER filter works on it
