Check out my post in the turbo section, but basically my turbo install didn't go so well, it seems that I have a bent valve in cyl 4 - or that's what Autothority seems to think. They admited they're not a Nissan shop so they're not so thrilled about doing a tear down. I need a shop or someone who can do this rebuild and get my engine running right in the NOVA area. I'm willing to drive (or have the car towed) a little to get someone good.

help!!!

Why not pick up a new cylinder head? Shouldnt cost to much.

If I got a new cylinder head what parts would that come with? Does that usually come with valvetrain parts? I spoke to Jason at JGYCustoms and he's damn cool, spent a lot of time with me on the phone. If they were closer I'd be there in a heartbeat, but I'm still thinking about taking the car there. I did get compression numbers from Autothority:

cyl1 - 170
cyl2 - 170
cyl3 - 140
cyl4 - 110

That's with the Wiseco Pistons (9.0:1 CR) - not sure what the numbers should be, but cyl4 definately looks bad. Now the advise to go to Datsun Dynamics is great, and I feel like such an ass for not thinking about them. I use to own a 510, and sold it in December to... yup the owner of Datsun Dynamics. I'll give them a call. Thanks for all the ideas, not sure what direction I'll go in, but I will consider the new cyl head option too.

thanks again

Wow you guys rock. I was sort of bumed when I got the news about my car, but with all this support - I'm feeling good again. When I spoke to Autothority today they said they would not work on my car, or actually they said they could, but it probably wouldn't be a good relationship. They admitted they've never been inside a sr20 engine, and had no Nissan experienced mechanics at all. I did call Chris at Datsun Dynamics and I will be bringing him my car on monday to get a good idea of what's wrong. Louis Anaya, whom I got all my parts from, thinks that maybe the rings didn't sit properly, so I'll have to re-ring the cyl. I might take you up on the wrenching, but with this damn snow, it'd be too cold to work on a car. Hope to meet up with you guys in the spring at some events.

thanks again

Man there are allot of us who need work done on our cars or are planning to work on them. What do U guys think of this idea, I search for a gararge type storage and we rent it for working oin our cars? The owner of the car being worked on gets the keys to the storage and they control who goes in and when at the time of there car being in it. This way cold, rain or shine we can always get down! We would need to pitch in and by tools (or donate them), a fan, a space heater and whatever else U guys can think of. Tell me what you peeps think? L8TR Joel

Oh hell yeah, I have a bunch of parts sitting on my floor that I could start installing if it wasn't so damn cold.

Participants will be paid with beer and Jamaican jerk chicken

OK I'm going to start checking around to find out price ranges for such a storage. Another idea is that I know a classic owner named Farid who may get his own mech shop. We may be able to use his place for allot of this. He is right off of 495. (Shift 495 that is, hint Blair) Hey Victorious, did U make a decision yet? By the way that Jamacian JC and beer sounds good. As long as it's root beer for me ;)

that's a great idea - I'll search too. I have some mechanic friends (they don't really do performance stuff, just oil changes and brake jobs) that might know of places to rent by the month. Damn I wish I had a garage then everyone could come over. I'll start searching tomorrow. Now if we could get a lift and a garage space then we'd be rockin.
