As the subject line states....
When I tap the brakes initially, all of the lights on the car dim for an instant. Its more of an annoyance than anything. However, its only the first time--if I pump them the lights do not flicker/dim. If I wait a few seconds, then tap the brakes they do dim.
Also, the lights dim momentarily when the ABS goes through its self check cycle after startup.
I'm thinking bad ground or maybe a blown fuse somewhere, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or knows the solution.
TIA gentleman and ladies. :)

Mine do the same thing on my nx1600. I would suspect it being the ground wires preferably the main ground going to your battery and runs and grounds to the tranny. Mine is all filled with corrosion inside the wire. I will be replacing that main ground. I have redone the other small ones. but that is what I suspecti it is. The headlights also have a ground on them and I cleaned it all up and sanded the surface it was attaching to but it didnt help. so i have to say it is the main one

Check the alternator. I have had it happen before. if you have an amp pushing a sound system, a good bass hit should dim them also. I think the dash/radio lights flicker too. I am sure you know this, but autozone checks them for free.....GL.Josh

FYI Autozone, can't check our alternators, much less for free :-(
They require ***-assembly to get to the diode's which is beyond most autozoner's comprehension... And the computer says "do not test" lol

My battery is new, the lights don't dim when heavy bass hits, and the ground to the battery is new because I just relocated it to the trunk.
What I'm thinking is that the old ground strap to the thermostat housing is just dangling. Should I reground that to the tranny?
I am otherwise out of ideas. :(

I have brought 3 different SR20 alternators to Autozone and they tested all 3 on their machine. Maybe it varies by location?

They do check alts here in KY. Any location I have ever been to in Louisville will check them for free. they have a belt/pulley system and check it by testing the output. You DO have to take it off the car, but thats not a problem....Josh

Do the lights dim if you put you a/c blower on high also ?

No, only when anything involving the hydraulic brakes (as opposed to the hand brake) operates do the lights flicker.
