: what tires: 205 or 195/50/r15
nelly17 03-01-2003, 08:24 AM im gettin rota subzeros for my b13 and theyre 15x6.5. i want a nice looking, good performing combo. should i get 205/50/15 or 195/50/15 tires? which tire brand would you suggest in each size. ive been looking at the kuhmo 712s and the sumitomo htr500s. the azenis dont get wet traction as i heard, and thats what i need in florida. thanx a lot
skyliner 03-01-2003, 09:19 AM Try these
Dunlop FM901 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Dunlop&tireModel=SP+Sport+FM901&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=95VR5FM901)
They won't wear quite as good as the Kumhos, but IMO they perform better. I put a set on a customers Miata, and it handled very well.

Andreas Miko 03-01-2003, 09:23 AM get 16 x 7s and run the 205x45x16 Nitto 555R Drag radials all the way around the car. The car will handle great and also hock up out the hole. The tire wear is also not that bad.

coach 03-01-2003, 10:27 AM Have you ran the 555R yourself Miko? Just wondering as some of the DSM guys up here don't like em cause they are loud. I haven't ridin in a car with them yet to know myself. I can't believe it is that bad. I want the drag radials myself.

Andreas Miko 03-01-2003, 10:29 AM I have them on my car. You will not regret your choice in these tires. You will also not beleive how good your car will handle with these tires also. As for me, I feel that they do not make a lot of noise. GET THEM.

I got 15x6.5 wheels and I went with 205/50/15 712's.
the 205 looks alittle better than the 195 IMHO.
how are those drag radials going to handle in the rain? i am going to buy tires next week for my B14 wheels. time to take the snow tires off i think. thanks
BlkB14 03-02-2003, 05:06 PM thought they stopped making Nitto Drag Radials.?
UNDRCOVR 03-03-2003, 12:58 AM You may have success with the Dunlop, but I have sworn to smack-talk them any chance I get. I absolutely hate mine. They are the loosest tire I have ever run on any car. I have had 235/60/15 bfg's on my old ElCamino that were tighter than the 205/40/16 I am running now. Actuallly, I will call it scary to drive on them. I will never promote the Dunlop....Josh
nelly17 03-03-2003, 07:25 PM any opinions on the sumitomo htr500s. tirerack.com rates those higher than the 712s in all categories including wear and grip
BodeB15 03-03-2003, 07:29 PM Falken Azenis are a great tire for daily-driving use , for auto-x & drag-racing , I don't have any suggestions , because I do neither .
kafn8ed 03-04-2003, 02:55 AM The Azenis are a little sketchy in the wet, especially standing water. Not that bad, but... They do not like snow at all. Especially when worn. Next winter, I'll be on snow tires. Not really sure what I was thinking this winter.

SmoothDaddyFig 03-04-2003, 07:13 AM Azenis are AWESOME in my opinion.
It just rained last night on my way from work and I was WORKING THEM TIRES.
Man, the can handle some rain if you ask me. Snow on the other hand.............
