Here's a tech question for you guys. So does anyone know how to do it? Monday in class we will be using a Snap-on scanner but I would still like to know how to do it just by using a voltmeter.

The is the procedure as discribed in my Chilton's

CLOSED THROTTLE (IDLE) SWITCH

1. Disconnect the closed TP switch harness connector

2. Check for continuity between the switch terminals:
*91-94 vehicles - 1 and 2
*95-96 vehicles - 2 and 3

3. Continuity should be present with the throttle plate fully closed. When the gas pedal is depressed, continuity should disappear. If switch fails to preform as specified, replace the switch.

WIDE - OPEN THROTTLE

The procedure is the same with the following changes:
* when checking continuity between switch terminals:
* 91-94 vehicles - 2 and 3
* 95-96 vehicles - 1 and 2

Hope this helps

Check the voltage at the black and white wires. At idle should be between .45 and .55. And at wot should be around 4v.

Oh crap, I forgot about this thread. I learned how to read it on Monday using my multimeter since the scanner wasn't available. I got .428v at closed throttle and 4.35 at WOT. I'll adjust it this weekend. Thanks guys.
